More taxi drivers stop for pedestrians on crosswalks

Recently, an interesting name list has aroused local taxi drivers' response. An elderly named Chen Guorong living in Baihe Community of Jiangdong District recorded the license plate numbers of taxis who stopped for pedestrians at crosswalks, and there are more than 1,300 cars in his name list. He made this name list in order to praise the courtesy of these drivers. In response to Chen's deed, the Municipal Passenger Transportation Management Center invited these taxi drivers to attend a rap session.

In the rap session, the drivers expressed their opinions on polite driving. "We feel honored and we are just doing what we should do, but Mr. Chen is so considerate and take down." "Suppose I were a pedestrian on crosswalk, what if a drive didn’t stop for me? I would probably get annoyed."

"I think a taxi driver should show politeness for pedestrians. Maybe it takes you sometime but it is worth it. I feel happy and satisfied every time I stop for a pedestrian," said Qiu Changjun, a taxi driver who appeared on Chen's list three times. Tang Yina, another taxi driver, agreed with Qiu, "I find when I stopped for pedestrians who crossed the road, they always showed their thanks with a smiling face or a wave. That makes me feel happy for the whole day." Xu Yongguo said he would always stop for pedestrians at a zebra crossing, and show politeness to pedestrians as much as possible. He even won an overseas trip from the company he worked for his polite driving. He said he was pound of that.

Ningbo launched a campaign named "Showing Courtesy on Zebra Crossing" on June 28, and more than 1,000 taxi drives joined in. They had a special courtesy logo stamped on the hood of their cars. Recently, many taxi drivers volunteered to join the campaign. The Municipal Passenger Transportation Management Center decided to give off more courtesy logos for the drives and encourage the courtesy of taxi drivers.

It is reported that the Municipal Passenger Transportation Management Center has hired Mr. Chen as their supervisor, and they plan to hire more citizens to be their supervisors.
