Intellectual property platform promotes technological innovation

The newly released "research report on the patent strategy for plastic machineries" attracted great attention from the related enterprises in Ningbo. This has been the sixth patent warning report released by Ningbo intellectual property platform since its birth a year ago. Besides the patent warning and consulting services, the intellectual property platform provides for free the enterprises and governmental departments with self-service analysis, customized patent service and patent information management. All the specialized services are very popular with the related enterprises. It has been merely one year since the platform came into operation. Before its founding, many Ningbo enterprises had suffered a lot from patent blocks. For example, some enterprises made great effort in developing a new product, but was informed that others had already got the patent when they finally decided to apply for the patent for their new product. And when some newly developed products are to be exported, they were always blocked by the patent protection network of foreign enterprise. It is in order to solve these problems that the intellectual property platform came into being in November last year. This platform is jointly constructed by Ningbo Science and Technology Information Institute, Yinzhou Science and Technology Information Center and Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology. According to a related person in charge from Ningbo Science and Technology Information Institute, the platform is now composed of 18 patent databases for industries such as household electrical appliances, LED, motor vehicles and parts, new metal materials and stationary. It has set up 550 enterprise patent databases for about 350 enterprises for free. It has trained 1500 patent management and research personnel for 1200 enterprises, including the one-on-one service for over 700 persons in 50 big enterprises.
