Jiangdong District entering the era of service economy

The latest statistics show that in 2013 the four major indicators in Jiangdong District exceed 80%, including the proportion of the added value of the service industry in the GDP, the share of the service tax, that of the fixed asset investment and that of the contractual investment, indicating the district's full access to the era of service economy.
To construct the core urban area of the city, Jiangdong District is developing from "service strengthening the district" to "innovation strengthening the district". It is actively developing the modern service industry, especially the sci-tech service industry, constantly gathering elements of high-end industry and promoting the innovation-driven development.
Strengthening the "lever effect" of the industrial policy. Jiangdong District took the lead in Ningbo in launching a series of science and technology policies supporting the innovative development in service industry, including those for innovative service enterprise pilots, technological public service platform, technical innovation subsidy and startup technological service enterprises. Over the past two years, the fund for promoting industrial innovation and innovative capacity improvement accounts for half of the district technological fund, showing the policy guidance of the technology-driven innovation and development.
Strengthening the "magnetic pole effect" of the industrial base. Jiangdong District is the first in Ningbo to propose the "big incubator for start-up technology service industry", realizing the transformation from individual development to region-wide cultivation for technology service industry. The Hefeng Creative Square has been recognized as a national creativity and design industrial base for modern service industry by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The International Shipping Service Center and the International Trade and Exhibition Center are included among the first batch of demonstration projects for modern service industry.
Strengthening the "guidance effect" of the leading enterprises. Jiangdong District took the lead in Zhejiang Province to fostering service innovation. 40 innovative demonstration enterprises in the service industry have been developed, which provides a sample for the innovative development of the modern service industry. The district also took the initiative to start the construction of startup technological service enterprises, and to speed up the cultivation and development of such strategic emerging industries as the creative industry.
In addition, by strengthening the "overflow effect" of the industrial development and the "sustainable effect" of the industrial capacity, and with the help of the innovative platforms and introduced talents, Jiangdong District has promoted the rapid development of its modern service industry. So far, 80% of the conference & exhibition enterprises, 40% of the top 20 shipping enterprises, 50% of the bank institutes above the municipal level, and one third of all the design enterprises in Ningbo have settled down in Jiangdong District. The branches of 23 international Fortune 500 enterprises, such as the Japanese Shipping and Minnesota Mining, as well as a group of well-known institutes, including PWC and Hanjin Logistics, have been introduced to the district. 18 prestigious institutes from home and abroad, such as Manpower and Beisen Assessment, have settled down in the Human Resources Service Industrial Park, with an area of over 7,000 square meters and an investment fo over 10 million yuan. There are now 70 human resources service enterprises, accounting for one third of the total in Ningbo, and their output value stands at over 3 billion yuan, half of that of the whole city.
