It's Happening....

Increase of combined sea and railway transport

Ningbo is maintaining a good momentum of growth in the combined sea and railway transport, especially the container transport market out of Zhejiang. According to statistics from Ningbo Customs, in the first quarter of this year, the combined sea and railway transport via Ningbo customs reaches 6,466 TEUs, including 4,642 ones from other provinces, which accounts from over 70% of the total and increases by 80% year on year.

Jiangxi Province is now the largest market of Ningbo for the combined sea and railway transport. In the first quarter of this year, Ningbo handled 4,632 TEUs from many cities of Jiangxi Province like Nanchang, Yingtan, Shangrao, Xinyu, Jingdezhen and Pingxiang.  "The combined sea and railway transport can cut the cost for about 500 yuan for each container. In the economic depression on the international market, it can make us more competitive," said Wei Li'na, Manager of Jiangxi Zhongjie Kitchenware Company. In the first three months, she company exported 50 containers of goods through the combined sea and train transport, an increase of 32% year on year.

To promote the combined sea and railway transport, Ningbo Customs has strengthened the coordination with customs of other cities and it offers speedy customs clearance services of "one-stop declaration", "one-stop inspection", and "one-stop release." According to Xu Danli, director of the logistic monitoring center of Ningbo Customs, the customs clearance takes only five minutes on average for each parcel lot at Ningbo Customs.
