Foundation-laying ceremony for CEEC expo hall held

The foundation-laying ceremony for the exhibition hall for the China-CEEC Investment & Trade Expo was held at the Dongqian Lake Tourist Resort on June 8, in the hope of providing special offices for businessmen and guests from the CEEC countries.

"We hope to come to Ningbo again two years later and have our exhibition preparation and negotiations in the offices surrounded by such fascinating scenery." said Goran Kovacevic, Deputy-mayor of Split, Croatia, in great enthusiasm.

The hall will be located on the east bank of the Dongqian Lake, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscape. With a land use of 144,000 square meters and a total construction area of about 70,000 square meters, the project sees an investment of 1.25 billion yuan. The main building will be completed next year and the hall will be put into use two years later.

Upon completion, the hall will provide quality services for the government leaders and guests of the CEEC expo, and serve as their offices during the session. It will become an important window for the trade cooperation and cultural communications between Ningbo and CEEC countries.

"We have seen quite a few drafts, and this final draft is chosen as it is fully connected with the cultural characteristics of the surrounding area. With the layout of group buildings like in a village, we hope to make the best use of the scenery."

According to a related person from Ningbo Development and Investment Group, builder of the project, the hall will have a modern Chinese style combing the traditional court design in South China, so that the guests can fully enjoy the local cultural and traditional customs.

The design of the project shows that it consists of 20 courtyard-style villas, over 150 guest rooms overlooking the lake, the multi-functional feast hall, the ceremony square, specialty restaurants, hot spring spas, and sports and leisure facilities.
