First project in Shanghai Volkswagen Supplier Park put into operation

During the May Day holiday, on the Ningbo site of Shanghai Volkswagen project, workers took the initiative to work hard for the early completion of the automobile city in the Hangzhou Bay New Zone.
On the site of the Shanghai Volkswagen Supplier Park, project vehicles, pile drivers and cranes were seen everywhere. After the settlement of the first 10 projects in June last year, the park started construction in September. Only six months later, four 20-meter high steel-structure factories are now standing on the site where it used to be a tideland with an area of 465 acres.
Not long ago, Ningbo Yifeng Automotive Components Co. Ltd. became the first enterprise to settle down in the Park. "We put into operation a thermoforming line and it has provided a number of automobile parts for the trial production of whole-vehicle project of Shanghai Volkswagen." said Zhou Guanting, Deputy General Manager of the company. The construction of the plant was started on September 7, and it took less than seven months to start the production line, three months earlier than the previous projects.
A new record was made for the speed of establishing a plant with the construction of the Ningbo project of Shanghai Volkswagen. As one of the leading parts suppliers for the Shanghai Volkswagen automobile, Yifeng has projects all over the country with the development of the Volkswagen projects. In the Hangzhou Bay New Zone, it set a new record for construction speed.
According to Zhou, in the period of pre-project coordination, the New Zone government promised to complete the approval of the construction plan within 120 days. "But to our surprise, the actual procedure took even less than 120 days." The efficient service is a result of the reform on the administrative approval conducted in October last year. When the nine linear links are required to be carried out simultaneously, it becomes a rule to complete the prior approval and start the construction of industrial investment projects within 120 days.
"For some major projects, we may arrange them to start construction before the completion of the whole procedure. In the meanwhile, we strengthen supervision to ensure the security." said Ruan Shijun, Director of the Administrative Service Center of Hangzhou Bay New Zone. The zone is now exploring a new way of conducting regional approval.
According to a related person in charge of the Shanghai Volkswagen project headquarters in Ningbo, the on-site supply of parts and components greatly facilitates the production and adjustment of the whole vehicles and lowers costs. Good interaction between administration and enterprises and joint efforts have accelerated the development of the automobile city in the Hangzhou Bay New Zone.
