First green channel for consumer rights protection opened in Haishu

Fake shark fins are eaten in the restaurants. Some beauty and hair salons of which you have membership cards suddenly disappear. The engines of newly-bought cars make abnormal sounds. As a customer, what can you do? According to former complaint handling procedures, you have to wait for about 15 workdays to get disputes settled. Recently, the first green channel in Zhejiang was opened to protect consumer rights in Haishu. Then ordinary complaints can be resolved within 3 workdays. 

By the latter half of last year, 32 first pilot enterprises were listed in the 12315 green channel for consumer rights protection in Haishu. These enterprises include big department stores like CUKOO, Intime, the new Hualian, Brilliance East, and Chenghuang Temple; supermarkets like Tesco, Auchan, Carrefour, Farming, Wal-Mart and OLE; stores like Suning, Gone, Five stars, Nanyuan Shoe Town and communication carriers like Tianyi Digital, Ego, the auto parts market and so on. Their sales account for a great percentage in the business zone, the number of consumer complaints is about 30% in Haishu.

Consumer complaints are just like hitchhiking the BRT. The green channel can be called “the BRT to protect customers’ rights”. According to the head of the center No.12315 in the Market Supervisory Authority of Haishu, 617 complaint cases have already been dealt with through settlement during 3 workdays so far. The sum accounts for 45.7% of total complaints against enterprises involved in the green channel, with the work procedures reduced by 80% than before.

e paid a return visit by the staff of the center No.12315. Based on statistical data, it is showed that the satisfaction rate of consumers on dispute resolution through the green channel in Haishu is over 95%.

For now, the provincial Trade and Industry Bureau has widely popularized this approach among departments.
