Beilun becomes provincial low-carbon pilot

With the issuing of the "13th Five-year Plan for low carbon development in Zhejiang Province", the province released the shortlist of the first batch of provincial low-carbon pilots, and Beilun District becomes the only pilot in Ningbo.
Recently, the Beilun Power Plant has been implementing the in-depth emission-reducing transformation on the thermal power units with the power of 600,000 kilowatt and above. After the reform, the nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and smoke & dust per standard cubic meter of exhaust will be less than 50 milligram, 35 milligram and 5 milligram respectively, and the concentration of the gas exhaust will be less than that of the gas turbine fueled by natural gas. "With the low-carbon economy and the recycling economy, we have promoted the cleaning production, accelerated the elimination of backward production capacity, reduced the pollutant emission and built an ecological industrial chain. We have made preliminary progress in such aspects as industrial structure adjustment, energy saving and emission reduction, carbon footprint record, and ecological construction." said a person in charge from Beilun District Development and Reform Commission. The selection of the district as a pilot is closely related with the low-carbon development it has insisted on over the past few years.
According to the pilot construction plan, Beilun District will make efforts to build the green low-carbon industrial structure, optimize the integrated low-carbon space layout, establish the cleaning energy structure system, strengthen the low-carbon infrastructure construction, advocate the low-carbon and green lifestyle, and implement the efficient low-carbon supporting system in the following three years (2016-2018).
The district will actively develop the emerging industries and enhance the proportion of the emerging low-carbon industries, with the focus on such emerging industries as new energy, new materials, high-end equipment, and electronic information. It will speed up the modern services industries and construct the low-carbon industrial chain by developing such modern services industries as modern logistics, modern finance, R&D and design, and business services, with the aim of improving the energy consumption structure and promote the low-carbon development of the industries in the district.
