City officials greet children ahead of International Children's Day

On Wednesday, senior officials from the municipal government visited children in kindergartens and primary schools, extending their greetings to the children prior to the International Children's Day.
On Wednesday morning, Yu Hongyi, head of the Publicity Department, visited children in Damin school, a school set up for mentally retarded children. She watched the children learning to do housework and highly praised them. She quoted a saying "When Destiny closes a door, he opens a window." and added that we should make every effort to update our teaching method, discover the children's potential, and help them live a self-reliant and dignified life." Yu encouraged teachers to help build stronger social support system for special education and benefit more mentally retarded children. Yu also visited Qinglin Branch of Ningbo No. 2 Kindergarten, and watched the children's performance. She asserted the kindergarten’s practice of opening branches. She said the practice balanced the teaching resources and benefit both children and their parents.
On the same day, Hu Modun, the deputy director of the Standing Committee of Municipal People's Congress, visited children in a kindergarten and a primary school in Dayin Township together with other officials. They visited the school classrooms and watched the colorful performance of the children. Hu said children are the future of our nation, and their healthy and happy growing-up will promote family happiness as well as social harmony.
Yesterday morning, Vice Mayor, Zhang Minghua, together with other officials, visited Meixu Central Primary School and Baoyun Kindergarten in Jiangdong District, and extended greeting to the children. The Meixu Central Primary School, formerly known as the Meixu Qiujing School, was set up in Qing Dynasty. The school is the alma mater of many famous Chinese scholars. Zhang enjoyed the performance of the children and extended greeting to the children and gratitude to their teachers. He said that children are the future of our nation and we should nurture our children the way we nurture flowers. In Baoyun Kindergarten, the vice mayor joined in the children' celebrating performances. He spoke highly of the teaching style of the school, and encouraged the school to make further progress.
Yesterday afternoon, Jiang Jianwei, Vice Chairman of the municipal CPPCC, visited a kindergarten and a primary school in Jiangbei District. In Hongtang Kindergarten, he watched a fairy play and a handicraft display of the children. He highly praised the children's performances and their art crafts. In Lingfeng Primary School, Jiang, together with other officials, attended a school concert, and visited the school campus. Jiang extended festive greetings to the children and encouraged them to work hard. Meanwhile, he expressed his sincere appreciation to the teaching staff. He also calls for more public support for education and more concern for children of migrant workers.
