The whole city to build national modern agricultural demonstration area

According to the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture, after self-evaluation, application material-assessment, presentation and oral defense, Ningbo was approved as the national agricultural demonstration area to be built as a whole.
In 2014, the Ministry of Agriculture firstly put forward the proposal to encourage the coastal cities in the East to build the demonstration area as a whole. Previously, the national agricultural demonstration area were being built by the unit of county. In 2012, Cixi was selected as the second batch.
In recent years, the agricultural production conditions have greatly improved and the agricultural modernization level is also on the rise. In the recently issued 2013 comprehensive evaluation of agricultural modernization development, Ningbo ranked 3rd, with 3 provincial agricultural ecological cycle demonstration counties and 7 demonstration areas.
In the following years, Ningbo will try to improve the modernization of agriculture by developing efficient and ecological modern agriculture and constructing a modern agricultural industrial system characterized by market-oriented, large scale, standardized production and socialized public service. It aims to realize the modernization of agriculture by 2015. By 2020, agricultural modernization will be completely achieved, becoming the demonstration area and leading area of modern agriculture in the coastal developed area.
