In the current critical phase of economic growth and development, to promote the campaign of “robots replacing humans" not only helps to improve productivity and accelerate the “new industrialization” process of Zhejiang Province, but also serves as an important measure of dealing with crisis, seizing the opportunities, and laying out for the “new industrial revolution”. Specifically speaking, the process has three points of significance.

According to the population status and trend in Ningbo and Zhejiang Province, population ageing and labor shortage will be the two major problems that will pose constraints on sustainable economic growth. The dependence on the four kinds of traditional dividend (the demographic dividend, export dividend, reform dividend and resource dividend) becomes insufficient. The “robots replacing humans” campaign will bring “technology dividend” and reproduce new cost advantages.
Secondly, it can improve the technological efficiency and can become an effective point for transformational development. Robots have no fatigue or personal feelings, which make it possible for them to produce products with consistent high quality and improve the assembly line.
Thirdly, it will be a reliable way and direction for the “new industrial revolution”. The core content of the “new industrial revolution” is intelligence and digitalized manufacturing, and the focus is the robots.
Of course, it needs the combined efforts from all involved parts, including the guidance and support from the governments, active participation of enterprises, sufficient services from professional companies, and even involvement of technological capital and industrial capital, to improve the scale and efficiency of the campaign of “robots replacing humans”. Currently, with such factors as the enterprise scale, industry category, technological talents and policy support, in addition to the high price of the robots, the large-scale promotion of the campaign is still confronted with difficulties and obstacles.
It should also be pointed out that when the campaign is applied to promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, people should not neglect the overall layout and guiding function of the strategic emerging industries.
