Ningbo to Establish 5 E-commerce Towns in 2016

Under current economic situation, promoting consumption is of overriding importance. To achieve it Ningbo will accord priority to e-commerce and moonlight economy, especially the introduction of e-commerce to rural areas, as sources from the Municipal Business Meeting on Mar. 4th suggest.

Ningbo business goal in 2016 targeted at increasing the total retail sales of consumer goods by 10%, total sales of commodities by 10%, online retail sales by 30%. As regards e-commerce, Ningbo will promote it in rural areas and communities and a project for rural e-commerce talents will also put in place. Ningbo aspires to foster 5 e-commerce towns of municipal level, 300 rural e-commerce service outlets and 2 county-level service centers. It will promote the online-to-offline service model, welcome the participation of companies in the construction of urban public network, and add 300 more self-service parcel pickup machines. To pave the way for e-commerce, Ningbo will launch the E-commerce Pioneers Project to attract and foster 3 to 5 pioneer internet enterprises as models. Besides, it works to boost the construction of e-commerce cities and innovation parks, assisting the latter to be the first provincial e-commerce economic development zone.

As for moonlight economy in 2016, Ningbo will develop a “one core, four axes and multi-nodes” pattern to boost major and lesser special business streets. Aimed at more modern blocks, it plan to promote 3 model business streets,5 provincial night market streets, 10 activities featuring moonlight economy and night market.

For the implementation of the "vegetable basket" program, Ningbo will guarantee vegetable supply in slack seasons while enhancing vegetable output of 180 municipal bases. Ningbo Vegetable Basket Distribution Service Platform is under construction for better intra-city logistics system and 9 supply centers have already been completed. Further efforts will be made to improve systems of meat distribution and enhance required capacities for emergencies. Online sales are encouraged, so are offline sales of community convenience shops and supermarkets, as over 5 pilot projects are already carried out.
