Ningbo issues white paper to handle traffic jams

The Ningbo government issued a "2015 White Paper on Ningbo's Urban Management of Traffic Jams," aiming to realize multiple goals in 2015: a daily passenger flow of 1.7 million people, a public transportation ratio of over 49 percent, and acceleration of the average driving speed on major roads in urban areas by 20 kilometers per hour.

Ningbo is expected to complete the framework construction of its basic rail transit network this year. By the end of 2015, the first phase of the Ningbo Metro Line 2 is expected to be put into service, improving transportation between major traffic hubs in the city.

The Xinjiang Bridge is expected to complete construction and enter service by the end of 2015. Meanwhile, construction of the Denglang Bridge is expected to be completed this year, and construction of the Sanguantang (Yuanshi) Bridge and the Zhongxing Bridge are expected to be kicked off this year.

Ningbo will push construction of public parking lots in the Xiamen Elderly Activity Center, the Xiamen Chinese Medicine Hospital, the Housun School, and the Qixiang Road Primary School, and add more than 2,000 public parking lots this year.

Additionally, 360 public bicycle centers with 9,000 public bicycles will be added in the city by the end of this year.
