Export volume in May sets new record

Despite the global recession, Ningbo's export volume in May has turned up. According to statistics from Ningbo Customs, the total volume of import and export in May reached 55.24 billion yuan, up by 4.4%. To be specific, the import volume stood at 14.94 billion yuan, down by 16.8%, while the export volume reached 40.3 billion yuan, up by 15.4%, exceeding 40 billion yuan for the first time for a single month..
Promoted by the rapid growth of export, in the first five months of this year, the total volume of import and export in Ningbo reaches 244.6 billion yuan, down by 1.4%, with import volume standing at 82.22 billion yuan, down by 8.6% and export volume standing at 162.38 billion yuan, up by 2.7%, realizing a trade surplus of 80.16 billion yuan. Against the background of a decrease of 2.7% of the export volume in China, Ningbo witnesses a growth of export.
In terms of the trade partners, the top three areas are the EU, the US and the ASEAN. In the first five months, the import volume from the three areas reached 51.48 billion yuan (up by 5.3%), 38.01 billion yuan (up by 0.3%) and 19.97 billion yuan (down by 4.8%) respectively, accounting for 44.8% of the total in Ningbo.
