Agricultural Economy of Cixi Upgraded to a Higher Level

In recent years, Cixi has taken agricultural brand building as an important opportunity to enhance market competitiveness of agricultural products and increase agricultural production capacity. Meantime, agricultural brand expanding project has been actively carried out to promote agricultural economy towards a medium and high level.
Highlighting features and building regional brands. Cixi will take its agricultural specialty products as a lead to develop “One village one brand” and “One town one brand”according to the local conditions. Cixi myrica rubra, Cixi grape, Cixi honey pear and other featured products will be built into agricultural public brands. Cixi Myrica Rubra Festival, Cixi Grape Festival, Cixi Honey Pear Festival and other agricultural products festivals will be held annually to enlarge their brand influence. This year, Cixi Myrica Rubra Association took an active part in the Strategic Alliance of Zhejiang Competitive Agricultural Products jointly held by Zhejiang Province Agriculture Department and SF Express. Free foretaste activities and free delivery by SF Express were held 132 times by 218 stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other big cities, attracting 30,000 visits. The online click rate was increased by 12.7% than a year earlier with the sales of more than one million yuan. 


Supporting strong enterprises and building enterprise brands. Cixi has 330 agricultural processing enterprises (including three national leading enterprises and nine provincial leading enterprises), 547 specialized cooperatives and 1,176 family farms. In the upstream, Cixi will improve and guarantee the quality of products through standardization and mass production. In the downstream, Cixi will increase market share through opening up the domestic and foreign market and actively carry out GAP certification in production base and QS, HACCP and ISO certification in processing.
Exploring green ecology and building healthy brands. Cixi has worked out standardized production modes of 19 leading products and promoted standardized production technology in more than 260,000 Chinese mu (17333 hectare) lands. Cixi has started the construction of a national quality and safety demonstration zone for vegetable export and actively implemented standardized production of all vegetables for exporting. 258 pollution-free production sites, 439 pollution-free agricultural products, 134 green food and 22 organic products have achieved certification. While taking advantage of the selenium resource in Henghe and Kuangyan, Cixi is to develop selenium-rich myrica rubra brands.
