Beilun invests 4.97 billion Yuan in oversized industry in the first quarter of 2013, up 71% over the same period last year. Investment in technological upgrading reaches 3.8 billion Yuan, up 85.9% over the same period last year which accounts 76% of the total. The growth and absolute value ranks first in Ningbo.
As one of the 20 strongest industrial pilot counties (cities, areas), Beilun maintains a rapid growth in its investment for technological upgrading. Last year, the investment exceeded 10 billion Yuan for the first time, ranking first in Ningbo. This year, Beilun formulates comprehensive industry policies to guide and encourage enterprises to transform and upgrade the traditional industries.
Beilun offers much supports in the forms of policy, carrier and stress to encourage enterprises to replace their labor force with machines and make intelligent renovation and modern upgrading for the production system and manufacturing process. All the work in Geely’s assembly plants of the Emgrand product line is done by ABB robots. Each robot can do work done by 3 men before. After upgrading, each workshop of Shenzhou Group reduces 60 workers, but the efficiency is increased by 20%.
The government and enterprises make joint efforts to carry out the change. For the innovation drives and stimulates endogenous power, many local enterprises realize the transformation and upgrading by breaking through pressures of cost, capital and market and increasing effective investment. Ningbo Lesda Stationary Co., Ltd is the one who benefits a lot from the transformation to automated production line. If the lines are completely automated transformed, two-thirds of the labor force can be saved and the efficiency can be increased 3 times, says the director of the company.
