Zhenhai District is well known as a base for heavy and chemical industries. The district has more than 40 key provincial-level enterprises including Zhenhai Petrol Refining and Chemical Company.
Innovation has become a dynamic for the new round of economic development of Zhenhai. According to related statistics, since the beginning of 2012, Zhenhai District has had 14 newly established hi-tech enterprises, and the industrial output of all the district-level enterprises amounted to 32.11 billion yuan, accounting for 38.7% of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated district-level size. With the rapid development of hi-tech enterprises, Zhenhai District has also witnessed booming of the cultural industries. In 2012, Zhenhai District ranked the first place in Ningbo for its quantity and quality of the introduced cultural industry project. In the first quarter in 2013, the district has brought in other 51 cultural creativity companies, fulfilling 25.5% of the annual scheduled targets, with the aggregated registered capital up to nearly 225 million yuan.
With the various platforms for hi-tech innovation, scientific result transformation and talent nuturing, the vigorous emerging industries in culture, new materials, new energies and electronic information are contributing to the economic upgrading in Zhenhai District.
