More than 500 medical workers donate blood

As type A and type O blood is in short supply in the central blood bank of Ningbo, many medical workers volunteered to donate blood in response to the call from Health Bureau of Ningbo. Till the afternoon on February 3rd, more than 500 medical workers from about 10 medical establishments have donated 160,000ml blood.
More blood is needed as hospitals receive more surgical patients after the Spring Festival, especially type A and type O. To relieve the pressure of blood supply and ensure the sufficient supply of blood for clinical use, Ningbo Blood Organization has started the emergency mobile blood bank donation campaign since January 1st. Till the afternoon on February 3rd, more than 500 medical workers from about 10 hospitals have donated 160,000ml blood.
During the Spring Festival, blood supply in the central blood bank of Ningbo amounts to 60,000ml per day. But the demand increases after the festival, which leads to a lack of blood in the bank., Xu Haidong, Deputy Party Secretary with The Second Hospital, together with other 20 people went to the blood bank February 3rd for blood donation. "Blood is in short supply recently. As medical workers, it is our duty to donate blood to surgical patients voluntarily", he said
Thanks to the emergency mobile blood bank campgain and voluntary blood donation by medical workers, the supply of blood for medical use has been largely improved. It is said that in the following days, more medical workers will donate blood, making the total number of donors reach 1000

Charity bazaar held by urban management volunteers

At nine o'clock sharp on January 8, a large charity bazaar as well as the recruitment activity for urban management volunteers, hosted by Ningbo Urban Management Volunteer Association, will be held in all districts and counties of Ningbo.

It is learned that all kinds of handicrafts, creative works, daily necessities and communication equipments, raised by more than 30,000 urban management volunteers, will be gathered on the charity bazaar. In the meantime, the recruitment activity for urban management volunteers will be held and each applicant will get a nice present. It is learned that the money from this charity event will all be donated to those urban management volunteers in need to guarantee a happy Spring Festival for their families

Ningbo Trade Union helping poverty-stricken workers

For the New Year and the Spring Festival, the trade unions of various levels of Ningbo will raise funds of 25 million yuan to help the 30,000 families of poverty-stricken local workers and migrant workers. The other day, at the meeting celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “helping the poor” program, Ningbo Trade Union started the program for the coming festivals. It is reported that the program will have the following activities:

presenting newspapers, aiding the workers of special jobs, helping the workers of serious diseases, aiding the students of poor families, inviting poor people to festival dinners, and giving free trip for migrant workers going home.

From December 23 to the eve of the Spring Festival, Zhejiang Trade Union and Ningbo General Trade Union will organize visits to enterprises and workers in difficulty. According to the plan, 10 teams will be dispatched to visit small and minor enterprises in difficulty, the poverty-stricken workers, the model workers and various people in need. Consolation money and gifts will be given to all the workers in poverty.

From January 12 to 13, Ningbo General Trade Union and Ningbo Branch of ICBC will carry out the program of “free air trip for migrant workers to go home”, and 400 model migrant workers from Shaanxi, Sichuan, Hunan and Guizhou will be given free air trip for their home towns

The first service base for the middle-aged and elderly opens

The service base for the middle-aged and elderly in Jiangdong District was established and opened on November 1. The base, located in the Jiahe Home for the Elderly, provides people with activities such as psychological health service for the elderly, health care activities and family communication. It is actually part of the construction of the service brand of "rainbow life" by Jiangdong Population and Family Planning Bureau.

The base is composed of five sections, that is, knowledge bruise area, psychological consultation area, family communication area, game area and health care area. In the knowledge bruise area, there are over 2500 volumes of books covering a wide range of categories such as health care, popular science, literature and art. There are three computers equipped with cameras and earphone mics for the elderly to surf on line and even do video chat. As for the psychological consultation area, experts and doctors will be invited regularly to come to provide psychological consultation and guidance service for the both aged people in the Home for the Elderly and those home-based elderly. The family communication area can accommodate about 70 people to watch movies or carry out activities. The elderly can watch dramas, old films and programs introducing health care knowledge. The game area is equipped with various puzzle apparatuses, where volunteers can make performances for the elderly and play games with them. In the health care area, there is a general clinic for the elderly, and Jiangdong Community Recovery Service Centre for the Disabled, well-equipped with doctors, nurses, rehabilitators and moxibution therapists, is also located in the area
