Construction-in-progress underground space: 6.9 million square meters

The underground space under construction in central urban area reaches 6.9 million square meters, more than 30 times the size of the Tianyi Square. In these areas, there will be underground parking lots, traffic lines and shops.

According to the 2004 "Special Plan for the Underground Space Development of Ningbo, The underground traffic arteries will be the east-west railroad track line 1 and the north south railroad track line 2.

According to incomplete statistic figures, by the end of 2011, Ningbo had constructed underground space of about 6.5 million square meters, 30 times the size of the Tianyi Square. Of the total, 4.4 million square meters were built during the 11th Five-year-plan Period.

In the future, Ningbo will quicken the steps in the using of the underground space. According to the planning department, by the end of the 12th Five-year-plan Period, Ningbo will have built another 15 million square meters of underground space in the central urban areas. The projects to be implemented soon will be:

The rail rapid transit project. It is estimated that the 3rd, 4th and 5th of the railroad lines will be 70% in the ground, with the underground area totaling 1.5 million square meters.

The Ningbo Railway Station project. According to the plan, the renovated Ningbo Railway Station will have 85,000 square meters of underground space.

The underground space project at the Sanjiangkou area. Around the stations along the railroad line 1 there will be an underground space of business streets and parking lots.

Dayang Island to be built into a high-end tourist resort

According to Zhejiang Provincial Tourist Administration, the Plan for the Development of Uninhabited Island and the Feasibility Report of the Uses of Uninhabited Islands for Dayang Island in Xiangshang, Ningbo--China's first island sold by public auction—passed the experts approval organized by Zhejiang Provincial Oceanic and Fishery Department. This indicates that after the owner of the island obtains the use certificate is authorized for substantial construction on the island.

According to the plan, Dayang Island is designed to be a high-end tourist resort, with yachting as its major business. The island will have 3 wharfs, with 92 berths. The island is to have 48 buildings including SPA, clubs, guestrooms, and other facilities. Priority will be given to the protection of the original landscape.

The plan gives priority to the protection of the animal and plant resources, environment and island landscape, specifying 3 bird and sand reserves. It will have facilities including a parking apron, a fishing center, a mini golf ground, and a swimming pool.

Dayang Island is in the southeast of Damuwan New Town, Xiangshan County. It is one of the 176 uninhabited islands the State Oceanic Administration announced in April 2011 and the first one that was sold by public auction. Ningbo Gaobao Investment Co., Ltd., bought the 50-year use right of the island at 20 million yuan.

Initial progress made for the first phase of railroad track line 1

The tunnel of the first phase of railroad track line 1 was broken through the other day. As a result, all the risks for the construction of the main structure of the the first phase of railroad track line 1 are removed.Meanwhile, the track laying started from June 20.

The breaking through of the tunnel is an important initial progress made since the start of the construction of the first phase of railroad track line 1.

The first phase of railroad track line 1 is 20.878 km, made of 15 underground stations and 5 elevated stations. This line has 13 underground sections, and the shield tunnelling method was adopted for the sections. Open air excavation was used for the section between the Drum Tower and the Tianyi Square.

"After the breaking through of the tunnel, our focus will shift to track laying," said Xu Yonggang. It is estimated that the track laying will be completed by the end of this year.

Ningbo-Seoul chartered flight opens

Thanks to the Expo Yosu 2012, the tourist flow between Ningbo and South Korea increases. According to the up-to-date statistics by Ningbo Municipal Tourist Administration, in the first five months this year, Ningbo received 11,236 tourists from South Korea, up by 64.44% over the same period of last year. In the same period, 14,139 went to South Korea, increased by 46.11% over the precious year. South Korea has become the destination that grows fastest for tourists of Ningbo to foreign countries.

On July 17 will open Ningbo Tourism Promotion Week at the Expo Yosu. So far, the travel agencies in Ningbo are taking action. Ningbo China Youth Travel Company is offering a tourist line by Costa Cruise Lines to Yosu and Cheju Island. From June 22 on, Ningbo-Seoul chartered flight opens every Monday and Friday.

Meeting of World Textile and Garment Supply Chain opened in Ningbo

The 3-day meeting of the world textile and garment supply chain opened in Ningbo on June 19. Sun Ruizhe, vice director of China National Textile And Apparel Council, and Liu Haiquan, Member of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor, spoke at the forum.

Ningbo sets targets for medical care reform

At the executive meeting of Ningbo Municipal Government held the other day, the Plan for the Medical Care Reform for the 12th Five-Year-Plan Period was adopted.

The plan specifies that the targets for the medical care reform during the 12th Five-Year-Plan Period should be: to improve the basic medicare insurance for urban and rural citizens, to improve the efficiency of the grass-roots public health services, to improve the institutions of the public hospitals, and to ensure the financing to the medical care reform. Concentrating on the improvement of the medical care system, the improvement of the mechanism for basic medicine, the improvement of new operation mechanism for grass-roots medical institutions and the reform of public hospitals, Ningbo will make 42 reforms in 9 categories.

In this year, Ningbo will focus on the following tasks: to promote the pilot reform of the county-level public hospitals in an all-around way to stop the institution of "increase the revenue of hospital by excessive sales of drugs"; to release policies to encourage private-funded medical services; to establish security mechanism for serious diseases; to have digitalized health archives of 70% of the urban and rural citizens and to increase 2,000 medical workers

Financing service month for Taiwan-funded enterprises opened

On June 15, Ningbo Financing Service Month for Taiwan-Funded Enterprises opened in Nanyuan Hotel. The service month aims to improve the financial services for the Taiwan-funded enterprises in Ningbo and the environment for investment so as to give greater support to the cross-straits economic and trade exchanges.

At the opening ceremony of the service month, Ningbo Branch of Shanghai Bank singed an agreement with Ningbo Municipal Office of Taiwan Affairs on the comprehensive banking services of 5 billion yuan for the Taiwan-funded enterprises in Ningbo.

The investment by the Taiwan-funded enterprises in Ningbo covers 25% of the total investment Ningbo has introduced. And the Taiwan-funded enterprises play a great role in the process of the industrial upgrading of Ningbo. The global financial crisis has caused difficulties for the Taiwan-funded enterprises and to an extent affected the economic and trade exchanges of Ningbo and Taiwan. Under this situation, Ningbo Bureau of the State Foreign Exchange Administration Bureau hosted this service month to strengthen the cooperation in banking business between Ningbo and Taiwan, to strengthen the financial support to the Taiwan-funded enterprises and to promote development of places.

For the present situation when Ningbo's foreign economy suffers from tremendous pressure, in March, the Ningbo Bureau of the State Foreign Exchange Administration Bureau started a program entitled "Financing Service Year for Small And Medium-Sized Enterprises. With this program, Ningbo aims to strengthen the link between banks and enterprises, to enhance the financing environment and to give preferential financing services to the foreign-related small and medium-sized enterprises.

Youngor Business School founded

On the morning of June 18, Zhejiang Textile & Fashion College and Youngor Group signed an agreement on the joint establishment of Youngor Business School. Wang Huizhong, Member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee, announced the founding of the school. At the founding ceremony, Wang expressed his hope that the two parties would actively explore the way to deepen the school and enterprise cooperation so as to bring about qualified personnel for Ningbo.

Wang Jianbo, Member of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-general of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee, and Zhang Minghua, Vice Mayor of Ningbo, were present at the founding ceremony.

The agreement specifies that following the principle of "cooperation in the management of the school, in education, in employment and in development", Youngor Group should put a fund of 12 million yuan for the business school in such aspects as the training of teachers, the employment of spare-time teachers, the awarding of teachers and students and the support to poor students. In the meantime, Zhejiang Institute of Textile and Garment should train personnel for garment enterprises and personnel of management for Youngor Group and help Youngor Group solve the problem of shortage of personnel.

After the founding ceremony of Youngor Business School, Wang Huizhong visited the practice base of the College, the fashion-design studio, the computer aided printing workshop, the exhibition room of students works and the sales shops.
