The 16th Ningbo International Fashion Fair

The 16th Ningbo International Fashion Fair (hereinafter referred to as the Fashion Fair), the key event of the Ningbo Fashion Festival and one of the important economic and trade events in Ningbo, is held in the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center from October 25th to 28th. The Fashion Fair this year, basing on the industry chain and integrating resources for co-development, will strengthen connection between fashion and industry, brand and marketing so as to overcome the disadvantages in designing and marketing.  

The Fashion Fair, on the theme of "Stylish Orient, Creative Ningbo" is hosted by Ningbo Municipal People's Government and China National Garment Association, supported by Zhejiang Economic &Information Technology Commission and undertaken by Ningbo Economic & Information Technology Commission.

More brands and better quality

 

The Fashion Fair, started in 1997, has been injecting an impetus in building a large textile and garment industry cluster in Ningbo. As a professional textile and garment exhibition approved by the Union of International Fairs (UFI) and an A-level Expo, the Fashion Fair now has a complete industry chain of men's wear, women's wear, kid's wear, business fashion, fabric materials, garment machine and fashion trend release.   

The Fashion Fair this year will play a leading role in the Fashion Festival to better serve garment enterprises. Main events such as Ordering Conference for International Buyers, China Fashion Forum and Conference for Distributors will also be held in the Convention and Exhibition Center to promote active results of trade and negotiation. It is estimated that 8,500 profession buyers from China and abroad and 100 important trade groups will attend the Fashion Festival.

This year, the Fashion Fair features new brands. First, independently developed brands increase. Kid's wear GabbyLoop, women's wear DBI and men's wear 22ND attend the Fair for the first time. Second, with an increase of 20 percent compared with last year, the women's wear booth is packed with famous brands such as LE’TEEN, SV, Dankeyun and ESBACK. Ningbo Zhongzhe Group, famous for men's wear, will make its debut of women's wear ONE MORE in the Fair. Third, the scale of kid's wear exhibition will triple and number of brands will double. And there are also exhibitions of infant's garment and underwear. Forth, more foreign exhibitors attend. More than 20 Korean brands bring fashion shows and works by designers from Italy, Taiwan China and America are exhibited in the international hall. The Italian high-end brand COPPOLELLA (men's wear and women's wear) will hold its debut of 2013 Spring and Autumn wears in the Center and thus enter the Asian market for the first time.

Meanwhile, to improve design capacity of Ningbo garment enterprises, fashion shows, fashion trend release and dialogues between designers and garment enterprises will be held in the Center. Designers from China New Impression Design will come to Ningbo and communicate with Ningbo enterprises. There will also be trend release of 2013/14 Autumn and Winter fabric material and material exhibitions.

Ningbo Apparel Brands Enters a New Era of Development

To outsiders, Ningbo is a city of powerful apparel industry with advanced manufacturing process and technique. In recent years, with the support of the municipal government and innovation of the enterprises,

Ningbo apparel industry has made impressive achievements in transformation and upgrading. Furthermore, it gradually forms its core competitiveness in designing and marketing on the basis of strong production capacity.  

According to statistics, Ningbo had over 3000 apparel enterprises in 2011. The gross industrial output made by large-scale textile and apparel enterprises reached 124 billion Yuan, an increase of 3.3% over the same period last year. Among it, 204 large-scale apparel enterprises, with an annual main business income of over 20 million Yuan each, created a total main business income of 19.424 billion Yuan, an increase of 9.06% over the same period last year. The gross industrial output and industrial sales output made by these enterprises reached 21.11 and 19.473 billion Yuan, an increase of 11.81% and 8.05% respectively. 1.1 billion items of clothing were made in Ningbo, ranking the first in provincial production and accounting for 31.11% of the total. The aggregate profits reached 1.989 billion Yuan, an increase of 11.6% over the same period last year. Today, Ningbo has 20 China Top Brands and 26 Chinese Well-known Trademarks, ranking the forefront of domestic textile and apparel industries.

Till 2011, the structure of Ningbo apparel industry had been consistently optimized and an all-round development had been achieved in the production of male and female attire, children's clothing as well as outdoor sportswear. According to Zhou Anbang, director of the Office of Ningbo Textile and Apparel Industry, Ningbo apparel industry has formed a four-echelon development trend. The first echelon consists of some long-established large companies mainly engaged in business attire producing, including Youngor, Shanshan and Romon; the second echelon includes some manufacturers such as Rouse, Aiyimei and Shenzhou; the third echelon covers some fast fashion brands characterized by virtual business model, including Peacebird, GXG and Beyond; the fourth echelon comprises several foreign trade and processing enterprises such as STEVE • VIVIAN, Alphabet and Mobi Garden, which have developed into a certain scale and influence.

Some leading apparel enterprises also increased their investment in research and development, strengthened the implement of brand strategy and endeavored to expand the diversified market. Youngor launched six full range brands including GX, MAYOR and CEO. Shenzhou group invested 186 million US Dollars to build its fast fashion brand Maxwin. Romon exported in its own brand and focused mainly on sales in domestic market. FIOCCO created its own women’s fashion brand and aimed at both export and domestic sales. Seduno, with a history of 15 years’ export garment processing, established an excellent design and marketing team to gain a foothold in the market and created brands such as Babilele and C.O. It already attracted an investment of over 200 million Yuan in children’s clothes and showed a rapid growth of branding development. It also launched over 20 children’s wear brands and set up production bases in Yinzhou, Beilun, Fenghua, Ninghai and Xiangshan.  

In addition, with the support grants as much as 12.4 million Yuan allocated by the municipal government, enterprises including Beyond, Peacebird and GXG offered online shopping. Last year, they gained a total sale of 1.5 billion Yuan at an annual growth rate of 500%.
