Overseas traveling booming during the Spring Festival holiday

It is learned from Ningbo Lishe International Airport that with the ending of the returning trips it has ushered in a new tide of overseas trips. Among other target places, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand have become the most popular ones.

Statistics show that February 8 witnessed the peak of overseas trips, with the total number of tourists reaching 3853, while those for February 6 and 7 standing at 2761 and 2388 respectively. According to Shan Jipeng, Director of the Publicity Department of Ningbo Lishe Airport, the most popular target destinations for travelers are cities of most Southeastern Asian countries, including South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia.

In September 2011, Jetstar Airways and Tonlesap Airlines respectively opened the regular flights between Ningbo and Siem Reap of Cambodia, and between Ningbo and Singapore. Since June 2012, such low-cost flights as Ningbo – Jeju by Eastar Jet in South Korea, Ningbo – Seoul by Jin Aire in South Korea and Ningbo – Bangkok by Asian Airlines, have been opened and have been competing with each other.

So far, there have been 10 airlines operating in Ningbo Lishe International Airport, with half of them being low-cost ones. By the end of last July, the international passenger capacity of the airport had reached 81730 people, up by 426.95% over the same period of the previous year. While the international (including foreign countries and other regions) passenger capacity had reached 41,3235 people, up by 50.9%.

"With the beginning of the holiday, the peak of overseas trips has passed, and the number of overseas travelers will continue to decline in the following two days. When it comes to the end of the holiday on February 15 and 16, the airport will witness another peak of returning travelers." said Shan Jipeng
