Ningbo to build "first-class leisure tourism destination"

It is learned from the tourism development meeting held on April 28 that Ningbo's tourism will be oriented as a strategic pillar industry for the national economy and a satisfying modern service industry for the people. By 2017, Ningbo will be built as a "first-class leisure tourism destination" at the state level with outstanding brand image, rich leisure products, high industrial quality and complete service functions.
Ningbo will develop its tourism with the five themed tourist products as marine tourism, ecological tourism, urban tourism, lake tourism and Buddhist culture.
With the strategy of constructing port economic circle, Ningbo will put great efforts to develop marine economy. Centered on such areas as Xiangshan Port, Xiangshan Island, Hangzhou Bay, Sanmen Bay, Meishan Island, Jiushan Islands, and Yushan Islands, the city will strengthen ties with Zhoushan, and develop such new marine tourist products as coastal holidaying, liner and cruise tours, marine sports, island tours, leisure fishing and marine cultural tours.
With regard to the ecological civilization construction strategy, Ningbo will balance the protection and development of the ecological function areas. With the focus on such mountainous areas as Siming Mountain, west Ninghai area, south Cixi area and east Yinzhou area, it will develop such ecological leisure tourist programs as the eco-tourist demonstration zones, scenic spots, forest parks, fitness bases, sports leisure bases and viewing spots.
In accordance with the modern urban strategy, Ningbo will give full play to the guiding role of the central urban area, with the focus on such major areas as the "three-rivers" coastal leisure belt, the eight historic and cultural streets, the northern banks of rivers, the eastern new town, the southern business area, and the suburb tourist and leisure belt. The main tourist products will include the featured street blocks, cultural performance, night tours on the river, conferences and exhibitions, themed shopping, and fashion and food, etc.
The lake leisure tourism will be promoted, especially in such major areas of Dongqian Lake area and Jiulong Lake area.
The main areas for Buddhist culture leisure tourism will include Xuedou Mountain, Tiantong Temple and Asoka Temple.
Besides, Ningbo will improve its construction of the civil aviation, railway and highway transit system, and encourage and support the existing passenger transport stations to enlarge their functions. It will also build new tourist distribution centers and open new quality tourist routes.
