Ningbo R&D Park scored tremendous success

On the Auto Fastener Expo Shanghai (AFE) held last month, a kind of cold header with the capacity to produce 250 nuts and bolts per minute attracted huge attention from businessmen attending the fair. This fastest cold header was produced by Ningbo Sijin Machinery Co., Ltd with the support of Shanghai University. It has been listed as a special innovative project of the national key technical equipment (2012).
Ningbo Sijin Machinery Co., Ltd is one of the 2000 private companies benefited from the technologies transfer centers of colleges and universities. Till the end of June, 2012, Ningbo R&D Park has already had 13 technologies transfer centers including those from Fudan University and Zhejiang University and another five working offices for academicians. These entire help lead green technology to the laboratories in colleges and universities.
"R&D Park is the key innovation zone of Ningbo and it was granted as much as 14.8 million yuan of fund from Ningbo Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone on the first three-year policy support ended just now. It has convinced technologies transfer centers and academician's working offices to undertake as many as 1,095 technology cooperation projects with 1,910 enterprises, with the total contract value of 436 million yuan", said Lv Xiyun, director of the administration center of the park.
The cooperative model of integrating the efforts of enterprises, universities and research institutes is the most common one in the park. A good example is the water-resisting and ventilating complex membrane produced by Ningbo Shanquan Building Material Co., Ltd in collaboration with Zhejiang University. Buildings using this hi-tech and energy-saving material are called breathable houses. More importantly, Ningbo Shanquan Building Material Co. owns independent intellectual property right of this invention, breaking up the monopoly of developed countries in Europe and the USA. Now, Ningbo Shanquan Building Material Co. is busying in compiling the national standards for ventilating and water-resisting layers. It is estimated that till the end of June, 2012, scientific projects declared jointly by technologies transfer centers and academician's working offices with enterprises reached the number of 115 with a total sum of money of 419 million yuan.
The construction of research and development agencies through joint efforts helps to stabilize and normalize the combination of production, learning and research. Shanghai Jiao Tong University, supported by its technological advantages in high molecular polymer, built a R&D center with Ningbo Xianfeng New Material Co. Ltd. The center developed many new materials with such features as being environmental friendly, energy-saving, antibiotic and inflaming retarding etc. There are now altogether 35 such kinds of R&D institutes.
Technologies transfer centers and academician's working offices have become the most reliable helping hands of Ningbo enterprises. The working office leaded by Tan Jianrong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering works at the technological research and development in mechanical industry and has cooperated with many enterprises such as Ningbo Jifeng Auto Parts Co., Ltd and Sunrise Group, helping the latter solve difficulties in designing and managing. Till the end of June, 2012, the office has held over 60 cooperative projects with enterprises, involving more than 30 million yuan as a whole.
