Exports for private enterprises increased

It is learned from the foreign trade conference held yesterday that the total volume of exports and imports of Ningbo in the first four months stood at $30.2588 billion, almost the same level of the previous year. Specifically speaking, exports reached $18.467 billion, up by 3.2% over the same period last year, while imports stood at $11.819 billion, down by 4.7%.

Statistics show that the exports of private enterprises increased steadily and reached yuan 8.826 billion, up by a significant 10.9%, much higher than that of the total volume.

Since the second half of last year, with the even deepening debt crises in Europe and the USA, the consumption capacity of the markets has declined sharply. Ningbo's foreign trade orders, especially those from European and American markets, have fell accordingly.

According to the statistics of Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau, in the first four months this year, Ningbo's exports to the EU reached $3.599 billion, down by 4.3% over the same period last year. The exports four April only decreased by 6.4% over last year, and the decline is expanding. In terms of different countries, exports to Germany, France and the UK increased by 1.1%, 2.3% and 10.9% respectively, while exports to Italy and Belgium dropped by over 10%. In the first four months, Ningbo's exports to the USA increased by 8.3% and those to Japan decreased by 0.5%. The exports to such emerging markets as Latin America, ASEAN and BRICS increased by 10.5%, 19% and 9.5% respectively over the same period last year, while those to India dropped by 5.8%. .

According to a related official from Ningbo Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Bureau, the growth of the exports of traditionally strong products is quite evident. Such traditionally strong products as textile products, plastic wares, LCD panels and lighting products saw an increase of over 10% in the first four months. The exports of auto parts increased by 7.4%, and those of bearings and fasteners increased by 4.1% and 1.6% respectively. In contrast, the exports of garments and bags & boxes decreased by 0.6% and 0.8% respectively (down by 10.7% and 13.3% respectively in April). Besides, exports of such port-products as ships and containers dropped by 56.6% and 62.2% over the first four months of last year, accounting for the decrease of 2.4% of the whole volume of exports in Ningbo
