It is learned on May 6 from Ningbo Port and Shipping Administration Bureau that a 150,000-ton port waterway project in Meishan Port area has passed the pre-feasibility study report review, and is expected to start construction in early 2014. By then, the Meishan port waterway will have the capacity for passage of 150,000-ton container ships or even the world's largest 18000TEU ships currently under construction.
According to reports, the No.1 and No.2 berths of the first phase of the container ship terminal project in the Meishan Bonded Port area have been completed and put into use, while the other three berths are expected to be put into use within this year, and the berths will have the capacity of 150,000-ton container ships. The No.6 to No.10 berths are also planned to have the same capacity and are now in the preparation stages.
At present, as the minimum water depth of the natural waterway of entering and leaving Meishan Bonded Port area is only 15.6 meters, which allows for only 100,000-ton container ships. "The 150,000-ton port waterway project is mainly based on the existing natural channel. For water areas with insufficient depths, we plan to do some digging, reef explosion and setting up new beacons." said an official from the bureau. The waterway project, aiming at the capacity for the two-way high-tide bidirectional navigation of 150,000-ton fully loaded container ships, as well as for the passage of 200,000-ton fully loaded container ships, will cost about 30 million yuan.

In the first quarter of this year, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Fenghua County stood at 2.877 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%, the largest growth in Ningo. "It is the central part of our goal of ‘quality town construction’ to enable residents as well as tourists to enjoy services of various levels. It is essential to the regional economic development and to the people’s wishes." said a government leader from Fenghua County.
In recent years, by introducing big business magnates into the existing business circle and developing new business circles with the layout of characteristic industries, the county has achived an integrated improvement of the regional business and trade productivity. In particular, the introduction of some landmark trading projects has greatly promoted the upgrading and improvement of the trade industry. So far, a pattern of business and commerce based on the business landmarks has been formed in Fenghua County. The central commerce district consists of three core commercial areas like Huizheng Road, Jinzhong Square and North Town Area, including a dozen large business complexes such as the Intime City (Fenghua), Guangyuan Wealth Center and the Fenghua Times Square. "The development of commercial construction directly leads to the return of the outward consumption, due to the improvement of the business functions and upgrading of the business standard." said an official from Fenghua Bureau of Commerce.

It is learned from departments concerned that the adjustment of the Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed rail is to complete and it will enter the stage of trial operation in late May. Meanwhile, to alleviate its impact on the lives of residents along the railway, the sound barriers will be installed on both sides of the section from Zhuangqiao Station to Ningbo East Railway Station.
The train routes of the high-speed rail have not been finalized so far, but it is for sure that both the G-type and D-type trains will be running on the rail, with the speed of 300km per hour for G-type trains and 200km per hour for D-type ones. Besides, the direct non-stop train from Ningbo to Hangzhou will be opened. At the same time, some trains will only stop at some major stations along the rail.
The last stop of the Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed rail is Zhuangqiao Station, the original route will be adopted from which to Ningbo East Railway Station. The current trains (including both for freight and passengers) run at a maximum speed of 120km per hour. When the high-speed rail is put into operation, the trains will still run at 120km per hour in this section. In addition, to minimize the impact of the high-speed trains on the residents along the rail, sound barrier equipments will be installed on both sides of the existing lines between Zhuangqiao Station and Ningbo East Railway Station.
