According to the latest Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index Report (2024), Ningbo Zhoushan has successfully entered the global ranking of international shipping center cities, ranking eighth.
Following its first entry into the top ten in 2021, consolidation of the previous year's ranking in 2022, and ninth place in 2023, it has achieved a historic breakthrough in four years, surpassing globally renowned ports such as Hamburg, New York— New Jersey, Houston, and Tokyo.

Breakthrough progress has been made in the construction of key infrastructure. This year, with the full operation of the second multi million level container berth group in Meishan Port Area, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has become the only port in the world to have a single multi million level container berth group.
The construction speed of major collection and distribution projects is accelerating. Driven by the major transportation project of Ningbo Zhoushan Port which started construction in November 2023, multiple projects have made breakthroughs. The number of inland dry ports in Ningbo Zhoushan Port has increased to 36; 26 sea-rail intermodal train lines have been opened, covering 16 provinces and 66 prefecture level cities across the country; The "Four Ports" linkage intelligent logistics cloud platform has been constructed, serving over 20000 enterprises.
The development of the shipping service industry has achieved energy upgrading. In order to enhance the capacity and level of port and shipping services, Zhejiang province has formulated the first provincial-level development plan for the shipping service industry in China, and together with Ningbo and Zhoushan, has formed a "1+2" shipping service industry planning system; Zhejiang Seaport Group has invested in the first joint venture of external debt quota sharing between parent and subsidiary companies for financial leasing in Zhejiang Province, exploring the unique shipping financial services industry; The largest container shipping company in the province, Ningbo Ocean Shipping, has once again entered the ranks of the 24th largest container shipping company in the world, ranking among the top 100 container shipping companies in terms of capacity.
