The Ningbo Symphony Orchestra played the overture for this European tour on the evening of July 27th local time, at the Emilia Romagna Art Festival in Italy.
As one of the most prestigious ancient festivals in Italy, the Emilia Romagna Festival has always been a stage for gathering global artistic elites. Internationally renowned orchestras such as the Dresden State Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra have been invited to perform.
The Ningbo Symphony Orchestra's being invited to perform this time not only signifies its international recognition of artistic standards, but also further promotes deep cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
This year marks the 700th anniversary of the death of the famous Italian explorer Marco Polo. Conductor Yu Ji led the orchestra to use selected passages from "Marco Polo" created by Ennio Morricone as the opening song, leading the audience through passionate melodies to travel through time and revisit the legendary journey that connects Eastern and Western civilizations.
Teacher Yu Yuanchun from the Central Conservatory of Music brought Tan Dun's "Pipa Concerto", perfectly integrating the melody of the traditional Chinese instrument pipa with the majestic momentum of symphonic music, allowing live audiences to listen to Chinese stories in a globally recognized music language. After finishing the song, the applause was long-lasting and enthusiastic. Yu Yuanchun immediately performed an additional song called "Send Me a Rose" in response to the enthusiastic audience.
In the second half, "Symphony No. 4 in A major, 'Italy'" by German composer Delson was performed. Under the baton of conductor Yu Ji, a picture of Italian folk music intertwined with classicism and romanticism slowly unfolded.
Accompanied by enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience, Yu Ji and his band performed an additional song called "Yao Dance", pushing the atmosphere to a climax once again
