Happy rivers and lakes construction accelerates in Ningbo

It is learned from the on-site promotion meeting for the happy rivers and lakes construction of Ningbo held on July 12 that there have been nine happy rivers and lakes, 36 high-quality beautiful water villages, and 43 urban-rural waterfront points.
This year is a crucial year for the comprehensive construction of happy rivers and lakes in Ningbo, with many achievements emerging.
In Beilun District, the happy rivers and lakes construction has been integrated with the building of beautiful water villages, and cultural and tourism scenic spots, and there have been 120 water culture landscape points and scenic spots. At the Meishan Bay, one can see sailboats on the surface of the sea, and the crowds in the beach parks and on camping bases along the coast. “People used to stay for only one hour or so to view the sea when they came to Meishan Bay. But now, the bay is a picturesque place where people spend a day playing!” said Xie Yuli, General Manager of Ningbo Aishang Meishan Bay Tourism and Culture Development Co., Ltd.
In addition, Beilun District has encouraged various social entities to invest in ecological water conservancy construction. Over 20 million yuan of social investment has been introduced into the renovation project of the Xiaojia River, and a number of waterfront tourism industrial belts with local characteristics have been built.
In the construction of happy rivers and lakes, Ningbo makes efforts to gather wisdom from multiple sources. “At present, Ningbo has built the teams of river chief liaison officers, civilian river chiefs, and volunteers, to achieve multi-party collaboration, and joint governance and sharing, and to continuously improve the quality and governance efficiency of river and lake management,” said a related person in charge from Ningbo Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau.
Take Yunlong Town of Yinzhou District. By relying on such cultural carriers as the “Dragon Boat parade on the second day of the second lunar month”, and the “folk culture of Dragon Boat Festival”, the town has organized 21 Dragon Boat river protection teams to further strengthen the ability of fiver chiefs to perform their duties.
Zhenhai District has revitalized its landscape and rural resources by upgrading and renovating the riverbanks, building the Tengshan Wetland Park and the water sightseeing tour route along the mountains and rivers, and thus gradually developing the agricultural research and learning, water street markets, and outdoor campsites.
“We are actively promoting the integrated development of water conservancy, water tourism, and sports, and continuously enhancing the sense of gain, sense of happiness, and sense of identity of the people, based on the overall pattern of happy rivers and lakes construction”, said the related person in charge from Ningbo Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau.
In future, Ningbo will continue to deepen the reform and innovation, explore institutional mechanisms with local characteristics in project planning, element guarantee, project approval, and investment and financing, and establish new models and systems for the construction of happy rivers and lakes
