As the leading elevator light curtain supplier in China, Ningbo Weco Optoelectronic Co. Ltd. accounts for over 60% of the domestic market share. To further improve productivity and production efficiency, the company has invested 12.9 million yuan in the application of the infrared scanning sensors in the production line. "The project will soon be completed and put into operation, leading to the annual production of one million new-style elevator light curtains with an annual added production volume of 30 million yuan." said a person in charge from the company.
Like Weco, since the beginning of this year, 40 technique reform projects In Beilun District have completed the registration procedures with a total investment of 1.05 billion yuan. "Among all the registered projects, over a half are the technique reform of assembly lines for auto parts, and others include the technique reform projects for the production of such high-end equipment as magnetic materials and precision machine tools." said an official from Beilun District Development and Reform Bureau. The projects, to be completed by June 30, 2015, will bring about "technology dividend" for enterprises, and promote the transition from "made in Beilun" to "created in Beilun".
To accelerate technical innovation, the enterprises in Beilun District have actively implemented the "innovation-driven development strategies" with the national industrial structure adjustment policy as the guide. They have carried out the "machines replacing humans" campaign and vigorously developed the new equipment industry and the modern manufacturing industry featuring information technology and network technology, which has greatly improved productivity, product quality, added value of products and market competitiveness.

Ltd., when speaking of the "technical reform project for the production line of the protection device for batteries of new-energy vehicles with an annual addition of 120,000 sets". With a total investment of 36 million yuan, the new project can realize an annual added value of 85 million yuan. Currently, the company is producing a variety of components for a foreign new-energy vehicle supplier, including the protection devices for auto batteries. According to Wu Renbing, when the new technic reform project is completed in November, the production line will adopt the automated manipulator devices, which will save human labor besides safeguarding the quality of products and improving productivity.
The progress of the mechanization has benefited from the agreeable policies. This year, Beilun District has set up special funds to give a grant of 6% to 10% of the investment for equipment to enterprises according to their sectors, enterprise scales, prices of key equipment and investment amounts. While for the enterprises using smart equipment products in the district, a grant of 12% will be provided to accelerate the docking of enterprises within the district and the application of smart equipment products.
