Southern Smart New Zone to be built

The overall planning for the Xiangshan-Bonded Area Cooperation Zone was undergoing expert appraisal in Xiangshan County on October 28. According to the planning, the cooperation zone will be built as the "Southern Ningbo Smart New Zone" with high international standard, versatile living experiences and talent accumulation, with such functions as high-end manufacturing, R&D and innovation, leisure and eco-living, featuring marine element, ecological development and smart construction.
The overall planning shows that Xiangshan-Bonded Area Cooperation Zone will realize an integrated development with the strategic emerging industries and modern service industry as the lead, and smart equipment manufacturing, IT application, movie & TV culture and creation, bio-health and cross-strait trade as frontier industries. The zone will effectively improve the industrial chain of the southern new area in Ningbo, and boost the development of related supporting industries as well as that of such service industries as vocational training, tourist leisure and talent apartment construction, playing the role of the new economic growth point in the future and the "smart creation center" and "catalyst" for the industrial transformation and upgrading in Ningbo.
According to the planning, in the following 10 to 20 years, the zone will attract about100,000 people for settlement. In terms of functions, it will become a pilot zone for trade cooperation with Taiwan, a major functional zone for marine economy development in Zhejiang Province, the pioneering zone for development and opening-up of the Sanmen Bay area, a demonstration zone for industrial-urban integration and eco-civilization construction and a pilot zone for system and mechanism innovation. The new zone will also be built as a livable waterside area with agreeable environment, assembly of creation industries and intensive and efficient industrial development.
