About 150 foreigner had been invited to make a free test ride on the newly not yet opened Ningbo Rail Transit. Stating form the New Ningbo Administration Center to the terminus and back. Stops at Gulou and the terminus to visit the stations and get a closer impression about the location. Almost everyone was surprised about the new station names, names which had hardly been heard before and even sound not really like Ningbo. FE: Sakura Place….

The foreign affairs bureau did also organize a buffet dinner at the Pan Pacific Hotel. # lucky winners can now even spend luxury weekends at the service apartments. So it was even more exiting to take this subway ride on the NRT

However it will be only a question of time when these new names will be accustomed to each NRT rider.

In the coming weeks, users of bus lines have to be carefully watching out for changes. Bus lines will be adjusted and in some locations act a feeder lines to the subway system.

Ningbo Rail Transit is a rapid transit system currently under construction to serve the city of Ningbo, Zhejiang and its suburbs.It will be officially starting service 0n 27th May witha soft opening for public. Six metro lines will be built inside the urban area of Ningbo, serving Haishu, Jiangbei, Jiangdong, Zhenhai, Beilun and Yinzhou. Metro lines connecting Cixi, Yuyao and Fenghua are currently in the early planning stages, no detailed information on lines have been released to the public. The first phase of Line 1 started construction on June 2009 and is estimated to be finished in May 2014.
