On July 18, the China (Ningbo) Marine Economy Expo was held at the International Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of “blue Silk Road connecting the world”, the expo aims to build itself a world-class marine economy event.
The expo was held at four exhibition halls of Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. To be specific, Hall No.1 is the international exhibition area of marine economic development achievements, Hall No.2 is the exhibition area of maritime services, marine engineering and ship support, Hall No.3 is the exhibition area of shipping services and smart ports, and Hall No.4 is the exhibition area of marine science and technology, new marine materials and boat lives.
Over 10 countries, 12 joint exhibition groups, and over 300 exhibitors participate in the expo. Among them, there are nearly 30 overseas exhibitors. Domestic enterprises include China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the world’s largest shipbuilding group, and its subordinate enterprises such as Jiangnan Shipyard and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
Ships are an important basic platform for conducting ocean survey operations. At this expo, a large number of new intelligent ship models are on display.
In Hall No.2, the model of the “Adora Magic City” ship, China’s first domestically produced large-scale cruise ship, attracted the attention of many visitors. According to Yan Chao, the brand manager of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the successful manufacturing of the “Adora Magic City” ship has achieved a breakthrough in the field of domestic large-scale cruise ships, making China the fifth country in the world to have the ability to build large cruise ships.
The ship, with a total tonnage of 135,500 tons and 2,826 cabins, can accommodate over 6,500 people and is known as a “mobile maritime city”. According to the plan, the ship will be delivered by the end of this year. The “Striver”, a manned submersible with orange head, and white and green body, is also a star at the expo.
The “Striver” manned submersible has been developed since 2016. It uses a safe and powerful energy system, as well as advanced control and positioning systems. The pressure resistance of its manned cabin and buoyancy materials has been greatly improved. Since October 10, 2020, the submersible has completed 13 dives in the Mariana Trench. On November 10 of the same year, it successfully dived to 10,900 meters in the Mariana Trench, creating a new record for deep diving of China’s manned submersible.
The “Tiankun” is China’s first heavy-duty self-propelled cutter suction dredger with fully independent intellectual property rights. The ship is equipped with the most powerful excavation system in Asia, with a maximum depth of 35 meters and a total installed power of 25,843 kilowatts. It is designed to excavate 6,000 cubic meters of mud per hour. The successful development of the ship has filled the gap in China’s independent design and construction of heavy-duty self-propelled cutter suction dredgers, enabling China to stand among the forefront of the world in terms of dredger design and construction technology.
In addition, in the heavy-industry theme exhibition area of ships, there are such major state-level equipment as the Xue Long polar research ship, the first self elevating and self navigating integrated offshore wind power installation platform in China, and the ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform, which is referred to as the “Pearl of the South China Sea” .
Hall No.4 gathers such civilian products as yachts, fishing boats, and lure fishing. Among them, the underwater drone displayed by an enterprise from Shanghai can transmit real-time high-definition images at a depth of 100 meters underwater, and can be used for various scenarios such as underwater live streaming, underwater search and rescue, diving point detection, and ship maintenance.
According to the organizers, during the three-day expo, the organizing committee will organize two international summits and over ten professional forums, with such themes as green ships, environmental and social governance, zero carbon shipping, international logistics, ship trading and management, and investment
