China Food Expo to unveil on Nov. 30

The China Food Expo of 2011 (CFE hereafter) will be held at Ningbo Conference and Exhibition Center on Nov. 30, according to information from Ningbo Board of Trade released at Nov. 15. Special pavilions will be prepared for exhibitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, which will be the first time ever in the history of the event. It is also learned that overseas foods will account for over 30% of the total.
It is learned that a new exhibition hall will be set up for imported food. The No.1 Hall and the pavilion for red wine perennial hall will exhibit imported red wine.  The No.2 Hall will be reserved for exhibitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. At the same time, the organizing committee will invite a large number of overseas multinational retailers and professional buyers, such as retail giants of METRO, TESCO, E-mart, Auchan, and Carrefour and so on.
The pavilions will be set up according to different categories of foodstuffs such as meat products, dairy products etc. as well as different origins of the food such as marine products, imported food and local specialties of China, etc., for the convenience of purchasers. In addition, the visiting time for purchasers will be intentionally separated from that for the public for convenience of professional buyers. The organizing committee is striving to further improve its service system to provide buyers with more convenient and better service. For example, some value-added services such as tourism, expressage and insurance etc. will be available in the exhibition halls. Meanwhile, platforms for online- purchasing will be set, too, which shall further broadens purchasing and trading channels and combines online deals with offline ones

Online Shopping Gets Brisk on Day "Double 11"

The eye-catching online shopping carnival in Taobao Mall on Singles Day (November 11,2011) ended at the midnight of the day. According to the official announcement released by Taobao Mall on November 13, the online shopping carnival secured orders worth CNY 3.36 billion during a single day of Nov. 11. Of all provinces, Zhejiang Province got the first place with 415 million CNY in sales revenue, and Jiangsu and Guangdong followed in second and third places respectively. Of all cities, Shanghai took the first place with 206 million CNY in sales revenue, and Beijing, Hangzhou and Chengdu followed in second, third and fourth places respectively. Ningbo took the fifth place with 73.06 million CNY.

Besides people’s huge purchasing power, Ningbo merchants also made big sales by means of online shopping and took the first and third places in sales revenue made during a single day. It is learned that on the “Singles Day”, three brand shops made the biggest sales, topping 40 million CNY, two of which were GXG and Beyond Textile of Ningbo.

The success of online shopping carnival showed that online shopping is becoming a new engineer to stimulate the domestic demand. On Singles Day, the sales revenue generated by Taobao Mall on Nov 11 was 936 million CNY, this recorded sales was nearly four times of that in 2010. Though Ningbo took the fifth place in all cities, it was the only non-capital city. The president of Taobao Mall Zhang Yong analyzed that a series of figures showed that the domestic demand had a rising momentum and again showed that e-business had become new powerhouse in boosting domestic demand and the consumption economy. It is learned that the sales revenue in 2010 reached 513.1 billion CNY, with an increase of 97.3% year-on-year and accounting for 3% of the total volume of retail sales.

At the same time, network marketing is also becoming a new transformational channel of the small-, medium- and micro-sized enterprises. According to the Opinions on E-business Development issued by the Ministry of Commerce several days ago, by 2015, the proportion of enterprises above designated size using e-business will reach over 80%, and the proportion of online retail sales will reach over 9% of the social retail sales. So the potential incremental market will be favored by the traditional enterprises. Many enterprises have transformed into selling goods in both real and online stores. Some enterprises, whether authorized as flag shops or franchised stores, have joined in Taobao Mall or other online retail platforms. For example, in this Taobao Mall online shopping carnival most of 2000 enterprises are small-, medium- and micro-sized enterprises. Two of the three brand shops with 40 million CNY in retail sales are “Amphibious Stars” who have both real and online stores

Ningbo-made shoes and boots going to American and EU

During the first 10 months, Ningbo has exported 6425 batches of shoes and boots to the US and the EU, worth over 160 million USD, up 12.3% over the same period last year, with the US, the UK and the EU as the top three markets. 
With the increase of the export quantity, the quality has been improving, too. The unit price has increased by 18.9%. The items exported include leather shoes, cloth shoes, rubber shoes, sneakers, etc.

E/I Bank of China Holds Small Business Credit Meeting in Ningbo

China Import and Export Bank (EIBC) held a meeting on granting credit to small and micro businesses at the Howard Johnson Hotel of Ningbo on Nov. 14. The EIBC Ningbo Branch introduced their practices in bank-bank cooperation in serving small and micro businesses. Vice Mayor Su Limian attended the meeting and met Li Ruogu, president of the Bank.

The EIBC Ningbo Branch was launched on Nov. 28 last year. It has been increasing efforts in granting funds to small and micro businesses. By the end of last month, it had granted loans of CNY 171 million to a dozen companies.

The 13th China Plastics Expo closed

On the afternoon of November 9, the 13th China Plastics Expo closed in Yuyao. Statistics show that the expo received 225,000 merchants, increased by 12.1%over the same period of last year; The turnover amounts to 4.11 billion yuan, up by 1.7%, of which, the turnover made in the exhibition halls reaches 2.35 billion yuan, up by 3.5%,

Statistics show that the expo this year has 19 projects signed during the expo. Of these projects, 4 are foreign-funded ones, with the investment totaling 330 million US dollars and the contract foreign capital totaling 170 million yuan. 9 are domestic-funded ones, with the investment totaling 6.98 billion yuan; 6 are technological projects, with the total investment reaching 206 million yuan.

About 100 experts from 19 higher education institutions attended the Conference of Achievements of Emerging Industries, at which about 1,800 scientific and technological achievements were released, and cooperative intent of 67 projects was reached. The “Hemudu Cup” China Home Appliance Design Contest 2011 received 1,856 contestant works. Displayed on the website, these works were browsed by 170,000 visitors.

The 5th China Household Appliance Fair closed in Yuyao the other day. During the fair, 1,474 orders were made, involving 603,300,000 yuan, increased by 6.77% over the same period of the previous year.
