With a length of 211 meters and a deadweight of 36,978 tons, the “Ever Breed”ship plans to load and unload nearly 1,900 natural containers.
At 16 o'clock on August 13, with the strong support of Ningbo Port Office and customs, maritime affairs, border inspection and other relevant port units, the "Ever Breed" ship of Evergreen Shipping's Southeast Asia route successfully docked at Berth 9 in Meishan Port Area. This is the first time that the berth has been approved for temporary opening to the outside world.
Meishan Port Area is located in Meishan Island, Beilun District, Ningbo, with 10 container berths and 1 ro-ro berth, with a total shoreline length of 4400 meters, which is the longest container port area with the largest number of large-scale equipment and the main automobile ro-ro operation port area belonging to Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
Berth 9, which was approved for temporary use, belongs to the No. 6 to No. 10 container terminal project in Meishan Port Area. The project is currently the highest grade container terminal under construction in China, and is one of the important projects in the core area of Ningbo's "Belt and Road" comprehensive pilot zone, undertaking the task of transit and transportation of domestic and foreign trade materials in the province, the Yangtze River Delta and regions along the Yangtze River.
It is reported that berth 9 is 412.5 meters long, the water depth is 17.1 meters, and the design berthing container ship grade is 150,000 tons (the hydraulic structure is designed according to the berthing 200,000-ton container ship), which was put into trial operation on June 10, 2022. As of August 10 this year, berth 9 has berthed more than 710 feeder ships in the country, with an operating container volume of 375,000 TEUs.
The approval of the temporary opening of this berth will effectively enhance the berthing capacity and container operation capacity of foreign trade ships in Meishan Port, lay a solid foundation for the construction of a 10 million box-level single container terminal in the port area, and add salary continuity to the new development pattern of Ningbo Zhoushan Port service and accelerate the construction of a domestic and international dual-circulation strategic hub
