As one of the founders of the park, Yu has benefited a lot at the time when e-commerce just emerged. In 2000, he sold heaters made in his father’s factory in Alibaba, the largest online B2B marketplace, and received an order of 1.07 mln yuan. In just a few years, he increased the annual output value of his father’s factory from 50 mln yuan to almost 1 bln yuan. Because of this, he won the title of “the Top Ten Online Businessman” and the e-commerce lifetime achievement award issued by Alibaba.
Yu also said that the development of e-commerce was amazingly fast. Therefore, he took the initiative to found the industrial park. At present, the first phase of the park has already opened, and the second phase project is under construction. The total park covers an area of 22,500 square meters. Yu was very confident with traditional industries to practice the e-commerce mode. “I hope in the future we could gather more online businesses and build a larger building, attracting more online businessmen to settle in Cixi and also promoting the online sales of local enterprises. It is also an important strategy to the transformation and upgrading of local enterprises”, said Yu.
Amidst the joint development of members of the E-business Association, Cixi Municipal Bureau of Commerce also made a series of policies to encourage the development of e-commerce, providing rewards to newly-opened e-commerce businesses and e-commerce industrial parks and funds to e-commerce talents training institutions.
