"With the expansion of the aging population, the health care for the aged people has become a big problem," said Zhang Hongbo, an authority of the Office of the Affairs of the Aged People of Jiangbei District Civil Affairs Bureau. By the end of 2011, Jiangbei District has 45,228 people aged over 60, covering 18.8% of the total population. Though the community health service centers have made health archives of the aged and they offer them some medical services, they are unable to provide the aged people daily health services.

To solve this problem, in March this year, Jiangbei District started a program to give the aged people volunteer services, setting up volunteer stations for the home-based health services for the aged. According to Zhang Hongbo, the volunteer stations in communities for the home-based health services for the aged offer the aged such services as rehabilitation, nursing, blood pressure taking, and recipe consultation. In the future, they will offer more services to meet the needs of the aged people like beauty care and disease prevention.

"We have 8 teams of volunteers who are students of specialities of rehabilitation, nursing and nutrition. About 100 students entered their names," said Wang Min, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Tianyi Vocational and Technical College of Ningbo. It is reported that The volunteers will establish one-to-one relationship with 2 or 3 single aged people, and offer them personalized services

Cixi Household Appliance Expo closed

On April 24, 2012 Cixi Household Appliance Expo, jointly hosted by China Household Electrical Appliances Association, China Association of Import and Export of Electromechanical Equipment, Taiwan Electric and Electronic Federation and Cixi Municipal Government, closed at Cixi Conference and Exhibition Center. Statistics show that the expo received 28,500 visitors. 22 over-the-counter contracts of investment and projects are signed. The contract value of foreign and domestic capital amounts to 2.28 billion US dollars. The contracts or intent contracts signed value 1.28 billion yuan.

The expo is theme on "green and intelligent". Its exhibition area amounts to 25,000 square meters with 1,000 international standard exhibition stalls. Over 320 enterprises participated in the expo, involving over 1,000 types of products of over 100 categories of home appliances.

During the 3 days, the organization committee organized 7 main activities including the symposium of industrialization and informationization, the conference of the presidents China Household Electrical Appliances Association, the fair for Taiwan investors and purchasers, and a fair for human resources.

Construction of North Portal Business District Started

Ningbo started its first-stage construction of the north portal business district which consists of 8 projects and whose building area totals at 330,000㎡, marking the substantial beginning of the construction of Yaojiang River New Town, one of the city’s six major new towns.

The district is located at the junction of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge and the Round-the-city Highway, bordering Cicheng in the west, Jinshan Road in the east, the west section of North Ring Road in the south, and Jiangbei Investment & Start-up Centre in the north. Covering an estimated area of 15 square kilometers, it will become a core business district in northern Ningbo that facilitates economic exchanges between the Yangtze River Delta and Ningbo.

The first-phase construction covers an area of 24 acres with a building space of 332,700 square meters, introducing altogether 9 projects sponsored by property development companies such as Zhongce, Zhongzhe, Ningbo Entrepreneurs Association, etc. Of which, the Centennial Park Project, with an investment of 450 mln yuan by Zhongce Property Development Co., Ltd, was started in October last year and will become the headquarter of Zhongce Group after completion. Meanwhile, Ningbo Entrepreneurs Association will also be relocated in the district. So far more than 40 member companies have applied for settlement in the Entrepreneurs Association Building. These buildings will be mainly used as headquarters for enterprises to handle official business, carry out research and development and do marketing. Their construction is planed to be finished in 3 years and by then they’ll form a core business district mainly composed of private owned enterprises.

The business district is also the first one in Yaojiang River New Town that carries on large-scale construction. With its emergence, Yaojiang River New Town, listed as part of the “Three Waterways’ Zone” Plan of Ningbo, will strive to develop into a portal business area featuring producer services and flux economy. Moreover, supported by the Olympic Sports Centre, Administrative Center and other urban public places of activities, it’ll also build into a sub-centre representing metropolitan commercial culture and characterized by recreation and tourism.

The Jiangbei district party committee and government signed a cooperation agreement with Ningbo Urban Construction Investment Holding Co., Ltd and Ningbo Communications Investment Holding Co., Ltd respectively on 17th, planning to develop the northern bank of Yaojiang River and Fenghua River and to build Ningbo into a land& port logistics center. It’s learned that the logistics park will be situated at Ningbo industrial function park in Jiangbei district. With a land area of 113 hectares, it will be developed into a comprehensive park integrating warehousing, transportation, processing and information.
