Cultural Memories Inheritance and Protection Fund established

The launching ceremony of the “charity fund for cultural memories inheritance and protection in Ningbo”, as well as the plaque awarding ceremony of the demonstration base for cultural and museum space innovative operations, the theme event for the “2023 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day”, was held at the historic and cultural block of Lianqiao Street on June 10.
The event was jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee, Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, Television and Tourism, and Ningbo Charity Association.
The inheritance and protection fund is a special charity fund jointly initiated by Ningbo Charity Association, Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, Television and Tourism, Ningbo Economic Construction Promotion Association, Ningbo Science and Technology Association, and funded by social charity organizations. It aims to mobilize more social forces to participate in and support the protection of historical and cultural resources and the development of the charity cause.
The fund will be mainly used to collect, display, and study historical archives and cultural relics related to the promotion of cultural memories in Ningbo; to promote the protection and utilization of former residences of celebrities in Ningbo, as well as the excavation and dissemination of celebrity culture, Ningbo commercial group culture, local sage culture, and red culture; to promote the popularization of knowledge about Ningbo’s cultural history and carry out public welfare cultural activities; and to promote the maintenance and promotion activities of Ningbo cultural memory museums, memorial halls, and exhibition halls.
At the ceremony, the first ten public welfare fund-raising projects were launched, including the promotion of Li Huili’s former residence, the second phase maintenance project of Pan Tianshou’s former residence, the renewal of the exhibition hall of academician Yan Minggao, the exhibition of the artistic installation works of “Wang Anshi and Five Scholars”, the promotion of the memorial hall of the Chens’ former residence, and the public welfare project of “finding family roots in Ningbo”.
Three cultural and museum venues were awarded as the first demonstration bases for innovative operations of cultural and museum space, including the celebrity culture halls of Lianqiao Street, Huamao Artistic Education Museum and the Kanyun Building Imperial Examination Culture Museum in Yuyao County
