It is reported by Ningbo Customs on March 19 that last week, the first batch of imported equipments for the rail project arrived in Ningbo Lishe International Airport from France. The arrivals, valued at 234,500 US dollars, include such line signaling system parts as signal transceiver, ATP board, and train-ground communication equipments. All the imported equipments for the line No.1 project is estimated to be worth 350 million yuan.

It is learned that the first batch of imported signaling equipments are from ALSTOM Co. Ltd. The line signaling system can monitor and control the movement of trains and the status of such equipments of line switches and signals, thus informing the dispatching staff the operational status of the trains so that timely measures can be taken in times of emergency. In addition, the system can guarantee the safe operation of trains by providing protecting devices such as train gap protection, speeding protection, safe doors, and surveillance devices for underground screen doors and elevated security doors. In a sense, the train can realize "auto-pilot" with the system. Reportedly, the detailed design of the first phase of the line signaling system for the No.1 rail project has completed, and the first vehicle-carried train signal device will be sent to Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co. Ltd for assembling and debugging in June 2012. The first batch of ground signaling system is to arrive in Ningbo in July and to be installed in October. A three-month no-load test operation will be carried out and the trial operation with passengers will be scheduled in 2014.

According to the information from related personnel from Ningbo Customs, the international tendering and contract signing job has been completed for the main mechanical and electric equipments of the first phase of the rail transit Line 1 project, to be opened in June 2014, and the construction is currently underway. Siemens (German), ALSTOM (French), Hochman (US), G & D (German) and SAFOP (Italian) have been chosen as major equipment suppliers after a comprehensive consideration of their enterprise qualifications, equipment quality and application performances. The imported equipments and systems mainly include vehicles, driving systems, signaling systems, AFC, underfloor wheel lathes, towing vehicles and rail grinding cars. Since March this year, about 50 batches of equipments will arrive in Ningbo, the last batch scheduled for April 2014, with the import value amounting to 350 million yuan
