According to a news conference held on September 11 by Ningbo Municipal Government, the 5th China (Ningbo) Farmers' Film Festival will start from September 14.

The Farmers' Film Festival started in 2008 and as a cultural event of Ningbo, the festival is quite well known in the country.

According to Zou Daming, Spokesman and Deputy Director of Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, News and Press, the festival will include such events as the countryside premiere of the film "Loyalty and Betrayal", show of the participating movies, the performance of film songs, the election of best liked actors and actresses by famers, and a meeting on the countryside films.

For the famers in mountain areas, the organizing committee of the festival will launch a program to donate film shows to farmers in the old revolutionary base areas and the rural areas in the west regions.

According to Zou Daming, the program of the "movie showing in the rural areas" is a cultural service program initiated by State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television of the P.R.C, in the form that government buys farmers movies. In recent years, with the implement of the program "10,000 film shows for rural areas", Ningbo has in the lead of the country in the target of "one free film every month for a village", all the countryside areas except the old revolutionary base areas and west regions. The organizer of the festival hopes enterprises and individuals will show their concern to the farmers in the old revolutionary base areas and west regions and buy them movies.
