The "Tantoushan Island Tourism Plan" was approved by experts a few days ago and the Island is going to invest 2.3 billion yuan to build itself into a tourism complex in east China that features in nature and leisure.
Situated at the junction between Damu Sea and Maotou Sea in the east of Shipu Town, Xiangshan, the island has a land area of 10.5 square kilometers and a sea area of five square kilometers. It boasts peculiar natural scenes and abundant tourism resources and is called the "Honolulu in China".
According to the plan, the island will have a spatial layout of one axis, one core zone, three centers and numerous bays, forming into an offshore home-style tourism complex.
The whole island will be divided into such zones as the core promoter zone, cultural experience zone, outdoor sports zone etc. The core promoter zone, depending on the available beaches, will have such facilities as a service area for the dock, an area for tourism distribution as well as a viewing platform.
