Food imports soar in Ningbo Bonded Zone

Statistics from Ningbo Customs show that in the first quarter of 2013, Ningbo Bonded Zone imported 357.5 tons of new food, up by 330%, with a worth of $1.071 million, twice as much as in the same period of last year. In details, 148.4 tons of olive oil with a value of $705,000, were imported, up by 160% and 130% respectively over the same period last year; 118,000 tons of beer with a value of $174,000 were imported, a growth of 3.6 times and 3.4 times respectively; 86.3 tons of liquid milk with a value of $67,000 were imported for the first time since last year; 4.1 tons of natural honey with a value of $106,000 were also imported for the first time since last year; a ton of coffee with a value of $19,000 was imported, a growth of 75.5% and 130% respectively. At present, Ningbo Bonded Zone has formed an imported food distribution center with wine imports as focus and imports of olive oil, milk powder and natural honey as basic varieties. Meanwhile, with the implementation of such supporting policies as tax reduction for food imports it is estimated that the imported food is expected to maintain its high growth.
