On the evening of May 24th, the “Ningbo Night” China-CEEC concert kicked off at the Ningbo Grand Theatre. Outstanding Chinese and foreign artists and the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra jointly presented a musical feast that crossed borders for the audience.
The concert opened with “Theme Music Skewers from China and 14 Central and Eastern European Countries”. This skewer strings together the Czech folk song “Beer Barrel Polka”, the Greek folk song “Happy Youth” and the classic Chinese folk song “Jasmine”, allowing the audience to appreciate the charm of different cultures in the sea of music.
Later, Polish pianist Mateusz Kozowski, Greek soprano Lito Messini, Croatian cellist Anna Ruzner, and Romanian flute player Georgiana Pana took the stage to present Chopin’s Piano Concerto Magnificent Grand Polonaise, excerpts from the opera La Bohème, Saint-Saëns’ cello concerto The Swan and Concerto Transylvania Suite for flute respectively.
In this concert, Yu Yuanchun, a famous Chinese pipa player and the first pipa doctor of the Central Conservatory of Music, was invited to bring the famous pipa song “Cloud Wants to Flowers”. Ningbo Symphony Orchestra performer Wu Mengzhe performed the popular violin concerto “Liang Zhu” like a cry.
“I cherish this opportunity to perform in Ningbo!” Lito Messini said that China and Greece are both countries with profound cultural heritage, and there are close ties between the two countries in philosophy, medicine, science and technology, and so on.
The concert ended with the encore song “Ningbo Welcomes You” brought by Ningbo Nadou Children’s Choir
