Since the founding of the People's Republic of China 75 years ago, the high-quality development of transportation in Ningbo has been solidly promoted, and the construction of a strong transportation city has been continuously accelerated, providing citizens with ever-changing travel services and injecting a continuous stream of power into the development of Ningbo.
The highway transportation network with the skeleton of "five directions and ten diameters" high-speed network accelerates from linear to networked.
The magnificent natural scenery combined with transportation advantages makes the Hangzhou Bay Cross Sea Bridge the preferred route for Ningbo people to drive to Shanghai. This summer, the highest daily traffic volume of Hangzhou Bay Cross Sea Bridge reached 87000 vehicles, setting a new high for summer traffic volume.
Behind the huge traffic is the hardcore infrastructure strength.
Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ningbo has built and put into use high-speed passages such as Ningbo section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou, Ningbo-Jinhua, Ningbo-Zhoushan, Ring Road, Ningbo-Dongguan, Shipu Expressway connecting lines, Phase I of Xiangshan Bay Port Expressway, Ningbo section Phase I of Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway double track, as well as the world's longest cross sea bridge—Hangzhou Bay Cross sea Bridge. At present, the mileage of expressways in Ningbo has exceeded 600 kilometers, and the total mileage of highways has exceeded 10000 kilometers. It has achieved the goal of "connecting counties with expressways, towns with national and provincial highways, and villages with graded highways" and "one hour transportation circle in the city", reaching the level of a moderately developed country.
Rapid development is not just limited to the road network.
Ningbo has fully integrated into the national railway network, upgrading from a railway terminal to an important node in the "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" high-speed railway network, becoming one of the 50 railway hubs in China.
At the end of last year, the Ningbo-Jinhua Railway was opened to traffic after seven years’ construction. Passing through Ningbo, Shaoxing, and Jinhua in Zhejiang, it closely connects Ningbo Zhoushan Port and Yiwu, becoming one of the most convenient channels for the "World Small Commodity Capital" to export goods overseas. Ningbo Civil Aviation has grown from scratch to excellence, forming a seamless global route network that starts from Ningbo, extends north to Hailar, and west to Urumqi, radiating throughout Southeast Asia.
Routes are constantly being updated like direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Vientiane, Laos.
The change in transportation also lies in the continuous improvement of the public transportation system.
Recently, after optimization, the Wei65 bus route has reopened, with four new stops and eight bi-directional stops added, greatly alleviating the problem of inconvenient travel for more than 10000 people in the old town of Jiangshan.
With the continuous improvement of the public transportation system with "rail transit as the backbone, conventional bus as the network, and taxi as the supplement", the travel of Ningbo citizens has become more convenient and comfortable. At present, the operating mileage of Ningbo rail transit has reached 195 kilometers, and almost every station has bus connections.
The construction of well-connected transportation infrastructure is also continuously moving towards green and intelligent development.
At present, the proportion of new energy in buses, taxis, and ride hailing services in the city exceeds 80%, making the "flowing blood" of urban transportation cleaner; In July of this year, the first batch of licensed unmanned express delivery vehicles in Ningbo were put into operation, providing Ningbo citizens with a new experience of intelligent and unmanned delivery; Special projects such as drone delivery, aerial sightseeing, and air exhibitions are nurturing more "future scenarios", and the "low altitude+" economy is constantly giving birth to new industries, new professions, and new driving forces
