Celebrating activities to be held for “Ningbo Book Reading Day”

October 31, 2024, is the fifth “Book Reading Day of Ningbo”, which was established in accordance with the “Citizen Reading Promotion Regulations of Ningbo”. To celebrate the day, Ningbo Library will collaborate with 10 public libraries in Ningbo to launch over 200 activities, including short video readings, cross-disciplinary sharing, special lectures, themed exhibitions, immersive concerts, reading salons, and reading conferences.
Ningbo Library innovatively launches the “book reading series activities”, including three major chapters: “Reading for fun in Ningbo”, “Reading classics” and “Reading and sightseeing”, to gather the spiritual power of the city, highlight the cultural background of culture and tourism, and cultivate new formats of reading.
Three events will be held on the very day, including the opening ceremony as well as the sharing meeting for “reading classics together with children”, evening reading sharing meeting, and the 2024 “finding reading in Ningbo” activities in the districts or counties.
Around the book reading day, a series of lectures by prominent writers and book reading sharing meetings will be carried out. For example, there will be five sub-activities for the “70th anniversary of Wang Meng’s writing career”, including an exhibition of Wang Meng’s works, an exhibition of related books, a special reading meeting, and a reading sharing meeting. On November 16, Patigul, winner of the People’s Literature Award and a writer from Ningbo, will make a speech at the Fuqing Hall of Ningbo Library with the title of “Writing - stabilizing the world with words”
