At around 10am on October 22nd, at a depth of 42 meters below sea level on the Zhoushan side of the Jintang Subsea Tunnel on the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway,
the "Dinghai" shield machine successfully crossed the seawall and entered the sea area for excavation construction from the land section. This marks the beginning of the world's longest underwater high-speed railway tunnel's "journey through the sea".
On May 16th of this year, the "Yongzhou" and "Dinghai" shield machines used for the excavation of the Jintang Subsea Tunnel started opposite each other from both the Ningbo and Zhoushan sides. At present, the "Dinghai" is crossing the sea at a speed of 16 meters per day, and the "Yongzhou" shield machine on the Ningbo side is expected to enter the sea area for construction in May next year. The Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2028
