First international multi-modal transport insurance issued in Ningbo

On the morning of the 30, a cargo ship set sail from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to La Spezia of Italy. Unlike usual, this time the goods were transported from the Huzhou factory to the port by road and rail, and then shipped by sea from Ningbo to Italy, with a transportation insurance for the whole process.
“This is the first ‘one policy’ international multi-modal transport insurance in Zhejiang Province, achieving ‘full liability with one policy’,” said a related person in charge from the Ningbo Branch of PICC Property and Casualty Insurance. This batch of goods involves various transportation means such as road, railway, and ship, and in the past, at least three policies were needed to cover the entire transportation process, but now one policy is enough.
This policy is jointly issued by the Ningbo Branch of PICC Property and Casualty Insurance and Zhejiang Port Logistics Group Co., Ltd. It is a new attempt in the field of shipping finance and insurance.
In June this year, the PICC Property and Casualty Insurance launched the world’s first innovative insurance scheme for multi-modal container cargo transportation, which solved such problems as segmented insurance for sea, land and rail, unclear connection of insurance liability, and insufficient integration of domestic and international insurance products, achieving the “full responsibility with one-time insurance”.
