Largest Water Park of East China Established on Dongqian Lake

Ningbo people will have another nice place to go to during the hot summer. A water-theme park is soon to open in the Dongqian Lake, which will be the largest one of the East China. The project, named Dongqian Water World, was recently signed. It is scheduled to open in next summer.

The project lies at the south flank of the northwestern corner of the Dongqian Lake, covering 220,000 m2. It will consist of children's paradise, waving area, Large Slides Area, Sightseeing Swimming Pool Area, and gourmets area, etc. Some brand-new water entertainment items will be introduced, which will make the place a sacred place for summer holiday goers.

Ningbo received over 24 million tourists in the first half of the year

Of all the tourists, 487,200 came from other countries or regions, an increase of 14.25%, 23.6 million were from within the China, an increase of 12.1%, with the tourism revenue amounting to ¥3.34 million, an increase of 17.2%.

In the first half of the year, tourism developed rapidly in Ningbo, with tourist attractions emerging all over the city. Also, the construction of leisure activity bases has brought some programs with special features and many tourist hotels expanded their business, greatly adding to Ningbo's capacity to accommodate tourists.

Since the beginning of the year, Ningbo has made efforts to further develop the tourist market in Taiwan, making it the largest tourist source second only to the entire overseas market. The municipal tourism bureau has cooperated with travel agencies in Taiwan to develop the source market. From January to June this year, Ningbo has received 110,100 tourists from Taiwan, an increase of 20.85%, with a revenue of $65.03 million, an increase of 25.62%.

Ningbo's investment in tourist projects has also been on the increase, with over ¥86 billion invested in all kinds of projects. In the first half of the year, the projects under construction included 15 large-scale comprehensive projects with a total investment of ¥57.42 billion, 2 cruise yacht projects with an investment of ¥536 million, 3 sports experience projects with an investment of ¥205 million.

Ninghai Travel Service Center opened

Ninghai Travel Service Center recently opened. This will further improve the comprehensive service functionality of Ninghai for tourism.

A related person from Ninghai County Tourism Administration referred metaphorically to the service center as a Large Travel Supermarket, for it offers such services as tourist information, information consultation, tourist guide service, guide service for mountain climbers, shopping of local products, order of hotels, restaurants, and order of tickets. China has five new National 5A-Class scenic spots

The other day, National Tourism Administration announced five newly approved national 5A-Class scenic spots. Zhang Jilin, vice director of the planning and financial department of National Tourism Administration chaired the ceremony. Related authorities of the tourist administrative departments and scenic spots attended the ceremony.

The newly approved five new national 5A-Class scenic spots are: the Three Pagoda Tourist Spot of Chongsheng Temple of Dali of Yunnan, Lijiang Ancient City of Yunnan, Xishuang Banna Tropic Plants Park of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the giant Buddha spot of Leshan City of Sichuan, and the Karst scenic spot of Wulong of Chongqing.

So far, China has 110 national 5A-Class scenic spots.

Direct chartered flight from Ningbo to Angkor Wat opens

On the afternoon of July 3, the regular international direct chartered flight from Ningbo to Angkor Wat opened, a new rapid way for passengers to Cambodia. The flight is run by Tonesap Airlines, the first international flight opened in Ningbo by a foreign airline company.

Reportedly, the first flight had over 130 passengers, many of whom were from Hangzhou and other cities, with few Ningbo passengers. According to a related person from Zhejjiang Xinshijie Travel Agency, the agency had signed an agreement for the direct chartered flight to March the next year.

On the noon of July 3, there were about 100 passengers in the waiting hall for international departures, and all of them were for Cambodia. The flight K9383 was to depart at 1:25 Beijing time, and arrive at Siem Reap Airport of Cambodia at 4:15, a flight of 3.5 hours.
