During the two-day forum, experts were engaged in an intimate dissection of the universal correlation between ports and city development from historic, archeological and cultural perspectives, concluding the whole activity with a plenitude of academic outcomes that involve not only a macrostructure of the port-city interaction hypothesis but also a minute examination of individual ports or port relics; not only a review of the maritime history studies and expectations for the field but also a strategic discussion about the systems of port cities and their sustainable development…. Every participant voiced their opinions freely and sparks of inspiration flared up now and then. Meanwhile, 14 scholars from different countries were invited to give special reports which touched upon the port-city relationship, port culture, archeological research in ports and so on.
