NCFI Drawing Attention

On Oct.23rd, 2015 at 4:00 PM (GMT 9:00 AM), 4 shipping routes index of NCFI (Ningbo Containerized Freight Index) debuted on the website of London's Baltic Exchange. Being China’s first such index issued abroad, it has drawn attention from all sectors of the community, including related government departments, universities and international shipping companies. Besides, special direction was given by Mayor Lu Ziyue.
In the direction, Lu points out that the debut of NCFI plays an important role in the construction of international Ningbo and Ningbo Port Economic Circle. Ningbo Shipping Exchange (NBSE) and other departments are expected to fully implement work, improve the integration of information resources and promote NCFI.
Dong Baoqing, deputy director-general of Information Technology Development Bureau of State Internet Information Office, said that the industry base of Ningbo nourished NBSE and NCFI. This cooperation will not only make Ningbo more influential and international, but also help China’s high-end shipping industries go international and improve China’s status in international shipping market.
Ningbo University Faculty of Maritime and Transportation is part of the organization commission of NCFI. Mr. Zheng Pengjun, dean of the Faculty, said that the cooperation of NBSE and Baltic Exchange was significant, which will increase the influence of NCFI as well as the popularity of Ningbo.
Jin Jiang, the chairman of Ningbo Dashing International Logistics Co.,Ltd, felt very proud on hearing the event. “NCFI has a substantial influence on shipping industries since it serves as a reference and can greatly lower the risks. I hope it will become more useful,” he said.
