Recently, the landscape project between Wuli Bay and Ji Village along the eastern shore of the north Dongqian Lake has been put under construction and is planned to be completed and open up before the end of this year. Coupled with the completed southern shoreline, the length of the landscape leisure line along the lake will exceed 10 kilometers, allowing residents and visitors more space for hydrophilic leisure activities and landscape viewing.
"With the operation of the bicycle lane around the East Lake Road and the development of the 'Shilisixiang' tourist project, there is a substantial increase in the number of tourists, which means the existing facilities can no longer meet the new demand. The landscape project along the eastern shore of the north lake makes it possible for the bicycle lane to extend for more leisure space." said a person in charge from the Management Committee of Dongqian Lake. The landscape belt of the southern lake area, 7.3 kilometers in length, is mainly an area for "ecological and leisure activities". With landscape viewing and on-water entertainment as its themes, the project now covers the Snail Mountain, On-the-water Park, Sunshine Beach and Mashan Wetland, with a total investment of 1.76 billion yuan. Statistics show that in the first half of 2013, the landscape belt along the lake attracted over 1.8 million tourists and 1.189 billion yuan as tourism revenue, and about 182,000 bicycle riders were reported to have cycled along the lake.
The recently launched ecological landscape project along the eastern bank of the north lake mainly covers the area between the Wuli Bay and Ji Village as well as the forest along the shore, with a total area of 10.6 hectares. The project is divided into two phases. The first phase, with Wuli Bay on the north and Ji Village on the south, with a length of 2.8 kilometers and a total investment of 35 million yuan, will cover six scenic spots, including the "double rainbows", the "blossom wetland", the "lake view along the east mountain", the "herons among the reed", the "rhyme of the ancient kiln" and the "lotus bay".
With the concept of "lake of the people", the Management Committee of the Dongqian Lake area has been focusing on creating the most beautiful shoreline by integrating the three areas (the core area of the new town, the waterfront area of the old town and the area of characteristic villages) and the three lines (the northern line, the central line and the southern line). The central line, with the theme of religious worship, has been fully completed. The southern line, with the features of sports entertainment, cultural experience and mountain tours, has been taking shape. And the northern line, featuring animal leisure and garden leisure, is now well under construction.
